Communities'? Needs Come First

Communities' Needs Come First

A new milestone report will be released today from the organization Strengthening Chicago's Youth: "UJIMA: How Young Men of Color are Informing Our Mental Health System" media event will feature youth leaders from?Communities United, the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Dr. John Walkup,?Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Tami Benton & IL?Senator Robert Peters.

Young researchers surveyed their peers to gauge the distance between what they need from mental health providers and what services that providers offer. Lurie Children's is willing to use this report as a way reach young men of color. We hope this example of communities showing institutions what care they need and how they need it delivered will lead to profound systemic changes.
