A Communications Industry Veteran Shares His Story

Meet our Senior Vice President, CJ Manolescu, he’s been with Subcarrier for over 28 years and is a true veteran of the tower industry. Starting with RCA Global Communications in the “pre-cellular age,” he remembers when a teletype machine would send 33 words per minute.

From paging, beepers, to automated mobile phone service with AT&T in the 80’s, CJ would go on to meet President John Paleski, a tower climber, back in the day, who had branched out to create Subcarrier Communications and the rest- is history.

CJ’s responsible for the sales force, bringing in new business, tending to existing customers and always being available when customers call or require a meeting. He also assists with HR, Payroll and Medical. He still believes in building relationships though phone calls and handshakes.?

For CJ, he starts work every day at 6:15am in Subcarrier’s Old Bridge, New Jersey office and makes the drive home every evening along the Long Island Expressway which takes him up to 3 hours. As CJ says, “its’ exciting everyday. John, our President, is exciting to work with, right on target, doesn’t cloud things, and we always figure out ways to get the job done.”

CJ is impressed by this industry, ”it’s created a whole new world of communications. Years ago you had a land line telephone, that was it, and if there wasn’t a phone where you were, you couldn’t communicate with the important people in your life. If you went out in the evening and you weren’t home by a certain time, you couldn’t notify them, to let them know you would be late and they worried. We helped to create an entire new world.”
