The first step of better communication is to be a better speaker (sender) and active listener (Receiver). Imagine a tennis match so you can shift between speaking and listening smoothly.

Sender

  • Be clear, simple and to the point so that you send a message that is easily decoded (understood) by the receiver.
  • Practice your speech, presentation, sales pitch,..etc over and over till you are confident in delivering it.
  • While speaking, keep in your mind that others decode your message as per their understanding and profile.
  • Speak to others in a way they easily understand and you will be a better Sender.

Receiver?

  • Be an active listener in the conversion so listen to understand not to reply.
  • Make sure you listened carefully and got the other individual message right.?
  • Give space and time to the others to speak. (People love it when you let them speak)

Eliminate any Noise.

Noise is the killer of communication, it negatively affect your messages and the way you analyze the feedback. Noise makes you uncomfortable and less focused in the communication. You need to eliminate any noise to get better communication in any channel. Noise is not only loud sound or music, also bad internet connection in a teams meeting, big colorful lighting in your client's face and a window on a busy street are other sort of noise.?
