When communicating in business, we should be aware when we say:

"?? ???????? ???????? ..."

Having hope I find basically a very positive aspect, and this is what makes us strive forward.

However, hope does not really fit into professional business.

Here, facts, good preparation, risk analyses and strategies are more important.

If we build a career on hope, we might as well play lottery.

To me, playing lottery is like cherishing our dreams but 99.99% unrealistic to win the jackpot ?? ??

How to do it better:

? Instead of talking about hope, we should talk about concrete measures to be taken.

"There is a risk that ..!

I have therefore prepared strategies X and Y to be able to react if the worst happens!"

"??????, ?????? ..."

This can works like a slap in the face.

You wipe the objection right off the table and move on to the counterstatement.

The other person feels unappreciated and perhaps even insulted.

How to do it better:

? Instead of going straight to the BUT, we can rather react with questions.

"How can your proposal best be brought together with the existing processes?"

By asking open-ended questions, we get the other person to think about the proposal again.

"?????? ?????? ?????????"

This question is similarly hurtful as the "Yes, but ...", because we doubt with the statement of the other person.

Even if doubts are appropriate, we can proceed much more skillfully. Especially if other people are present, it is important to make sure that no one loses faces and that each other's respect is kept in proper place ??

How to do it better:

? Formulate your questions or in concrete terms. "These numbers are amazing. Please be good enough to explain exactly how the evaluation and analysis works!"

"????'???? ???????? ?????? ??????????????!"

This phrase is often used by managers who mean no harm by it.

On the contrary, even can have a motivating effect.

In the sense of: I believe in you! You can do it!

Unfortunately, this statement also contains the arrogant ignorance of facts that have just been presented.

In a sense, this statement forces people to ignore concerns and risks.

How to do it better:

? It's better to get the person to rethink with open-ended questions or coaching techniques.

"What is still missing to make your idea feasible?

What other possible solutions do you see?

How would you proceed if you could & were allowed to do as you please?"?

Is communication really that critical?

I think absolutely YES!?

We should try to think about phrases like I mentioned here ahead of times so that we are better equipped for spontaneous future reactions when communicating ??

This will help us together, because communication exists for our better mutual understanding ...

I totally agree - communication with compassion - it goes a long way. When we connect with someone through the heart, it can over rule the biases, fears and anxieties. Some humans don't have the capacity for heartfelt connection - its not a criticism from me - it's just that we operate in different ways. They may connect to places or material things. Then there are soul connections where we don't really know why we connect but sonetimes we feel as if we've known the person all our lives.

Verbal "words" are only 7% of (how) we communicate, the other 93% being visual, tonal, micro facial expressions, body language etc....HOWEVER the 7% of words used TRIGGER emotions and recall that we cannot possibly understand unless we are intimately involved with the person. We selected 52 words and put on a deck of cards with a statement associated to that word. I.e LOVE is Blind , MONEY grows on trees, FRIENDSHIP at a distance always fail, MOTHERS are always caring and supportive. PARENTS should be nurturing. The pairs teams sort their deck of cards as Strongly agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly disagree. 15 min later you see just how different you associate meaning to words. Its a great opening to an empathy session as they can ask each other why there is a gap if some words. As Marcus Parade says, using a word you feel is safe, may actually open a scar in the other person. I used a visualization of a mountain stream with intent to calm a client, and noticed the body tense up and micro expression of fear and confusion on her face so stopped. She had a childhood incident where her sister attempted to drown huner and she was triggered by the mention of a pool of water to relive the fear of death. #SAFER LU?E

I finally have a way to try to communicate with someone close to me without using the words that I know cause this person to immediately defend himself. Thanks, Carol Nelson???? I read and enjoyed the article.
