Communication is the key to success!

Looking for a new job and just had an offer? Those other companies and recruiters that are now following up on previous conversations can be ignored. Don't answer the phone, don't text back. Heaven forbid that you might reply to an email. No, it's best that you leave them in the dark. Isn't It? We will address that shortly.

Filling a job? Hiring? Recruiting? Working in recruitment? Found the right person for the job now so no need to let the other applicants know? No need to let the recruiter know if you are the company hiring. It's all sorted out now so we can ignore the others. Really? Do you think that is best?

Communication is the key to success and not just when recruiting but at all times with all people that you touch in business and your personal life. Take the first case of the applicant that has now been offered a job or decided not to leave her job. There will be a considerable amount of effort that a company or a recruiter will put in to try and do the best for you, the time that they will spend because they cannot contact you. If at the end of this you just ignore them, do you not think that they will simply forget you after that amount of effort? You are just showing them that you are not a good candidate and, in the future, they may simply reject your applications for future jobs. They may not even be in the same job themselves so when you apply you have no idea who will be reading the application and why they reject you. It could just be because they remember how ignorant you were previously and how much work you were.

Similarly for a company or a recruiter who does not get back to an applicant who was interviewed or who they have had dealings with. The candidate or applicant if you prefer will put a mark down against you the recruiter or you the company / agency. They will see your name and simply not apply for the job. Worse still they will tell their friends who will also not apply because of the customer service that they received. Do you not agree that this is bad? This way you will get a bad reputation with the general public and eventually the company or agency finds it hard to attract the best people.

The answer is to always follow up and call back, give the good or the bad news and make sure that everyone is communicated with in the way you too would want to be.

It is easy to see that communications goes a long way in hiring staff or looking for a new job and the same is true of all interactions you or your business has. Your suppliers, your clients and your staff all need communicating with and all deserve to be dealt with using integrity and respect.

Go and communicate with everyone, reply to all messages, voice-mails and texts, ensuring that your message is delivered correctly and then you will find these people become ambassadors for you and your business.
