Despite these preparations, the incident exposed several shortfalls in the comms systems vital to operations.

One of the primary issues encountered during the assassination attempt was the lack of reliable cellular coverage. In certain areas, the signal was weak or non-existent, severely hampering the ability of agents to communicate. Implementing a unified communication platform that allows for real-time information sharing between the Protective Services, local law enforcement, and other federal agencies is crucial. This will streamline coordination and ensure a faster, more efficient response during emergencies.

Portable Meshed Secure Networks

A local portable meshed secure network can provide a robust solution to the communication issues faced during this event. Portable meshed networks consist of interconnected cellular / satellite / local WIFI/radio to landline (SIP) nodes that create a self-healing and secure mesh of data for communication, ensuring that even if one node is compromised, the network remains operational. Deploying such networks, along with mobile command units, can offer real-time, secure, and resilient communication capabilities. This deployment would be essentially a forward command center, which can be rapidly deployed on-site before the event.

Delicate Balance

While advanced communication technologies are essential, Protective Services should also consider incorporating simple, low-tech solutions into their protocols. Redundant systems, such as tactical visual signals, can provide an additional layer of security when all else fails.

Maybe they could have secured some walkie talkies( no joke) This would involve forward thinking which is always best when protecting world leaders The low connectivity problem had to be known prior to the day of Trumps speech
