We've rebranded as PricklyPear! In early 2023, we began sharing weekly content (see below) with a focus on neurodivergent leaders and we truly hope it has made a difference for you. Several weeks ago, we introduced you to a new company that I (Ken) and Petra Russell, PCC, CPC, ELI-MP have launched to specifically serve neurodivergent leaders. As Executive Coaches and Leadership Trainers we've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of neurodivergent leaders and coach them through many leadership and workplace challenges. Each week we will continue to share resources and insights for neurodivergent leaders and the rest of us.
In this week's newsletter we continue our series of newsletters about super-powers of neurodivergent leaders.

Communicating with Precision and Simplicity
Everyone, whether neurotypical for neurodivergent brings unique values to the table. Everyone brings their own level of genius.
One of the most common traits we see in leaders with neurodivergent diagnoses is the ability to communicate with precision and simplicity. To take concepts that few people understand and share them in a way that allows others to understand and get engaged.
As an executive coach and a trainer, I am lucky enough to work with leaders at some of the most well known tech companies in the world. I really do consider it a privilege primarily because I am a total science geek and have been since I was a little kid.
While other kids were outside playing baseball with their friends, I was riding my bike to the local library and reading about quasars, black holes, and capacitors. I would stay for hours.
So imagine my joy when in June, I got to meet and coach the crucial inventor of one of the biggest tech releases in the world this year. He was and is everything that you would expect. He is a genius and his work has consistently shown this. What he brings to the table the best though is this skill we are talking about today. He can enter a room with the most senior leaders in Silicon Valley and distill concepts in a way that allows everyone to be enrolled in the process.
The funny things is, he didn’t know he could do this—he just did it because it was him. He often thought he was failing in his communication because he was told that those who are on the spectrum were poor communicators.
The 360-assessment that we did with him and the world of coaching is what gave him this powerful insight into himself. The value of coaching in this case was increasing his confidence by introducing him to reality.
If you wonder if you are a poor communicator—just know you are miles ahead of poor communicators who are walking around not even wondering. My guess, however, is that you need to be introduced to the reality of what you are good at and what you could grow in.
