Communicating with confidence

Communicating with confidence

I recently had the amazing opportunity to connect with a woman who really knows what it means to live in authentic confidence.

I loved our discussion so much and I thought it would be great to share some of the things we talked about.

If you don’t already know her beautiful face or incredible voice, Katrina Blowers is an award winning newsreader on Australia’s Channel 7, a speaker, mentor and host of the Claiming Your Confidence podcast.

The media industry might be a lot of smoke and mirrors, but this girl is the real deal.

Well known for her work in the radio and television industry, Katrina also has a passion for teaching other people the power of authentic confidence, providing one-on-one coaching and sharing practical skills to help them tell their own stories.

Katrina grew up knowing exactly what she wanted to do and never really thought about confidence until she was going through a divorce and experienced a panic attack on live television.

I can’t imagine how scary and confronting that experience would have been.

Her world was blowing up and she started questioning everything she thought she knew about confidence.

Anxiety started kicking in and the only way to do her job was to put on an act and fake the confidence like a true performer.

The show must go on!

But we all know that’s not sustainable in real life. She needed true, authentic confidence.

So she started digging.

Being a journalist, she researched everything about anxiety and confidence and quickly discovered the power of meditation and breathwork.

Meditation is so important for your mind and managing your emotions. It teaches you how to not get caught up in the narrative of your thoughts.

They’re just thoughts and they don’t define you.

Katrina now meditates 20 minutes every day and says that it’s been an absolute game changer.

Throughout her career, Katrina made some bold moves and trusted in her intuition, even when it meant leaving a job that plenty of people would kill for.

That takes guts, especially when your boss says you’re making the biggest mistake of your career!

But you know what? She followed her heart and trusted her journey and made space for new opportunities which she never saw coming. I find that so inspiring.

Like me, Katrina works with a lot of women to help claim their confidence and we both see so many women struggle with imposter syndrome.

So many women don’t believe in the power of their own stories and that they have something valuable to share.

The thing is, no one is perfect and has it all together. Not me, not her, not anyone. And that’s why we need to share our stories because they inspire other people that they can do it too.

I just love Katrina and the amazing work she’s doing to help women use their voice in a powerful way. The world needs more women like her!
