COMMUNICATE
I am reading a book now titled “Everyone Communicates. Few Connect.”
To COMMUNICATE is to share or exchange information, news or ideas. We all COMMUNICATE but that does not mean that we all COMMUNICATE accurately.
I wrote 6 months ago on how our LANGUAGE can confuse and shared a made-up silly example using the word FLOCK:
What the FLOCK? Communication is a bidirectional activity.
It was 6 months ago (10-6-15 to be exact), though some might write that as 6-10-15 or 6 Oct 15 or 2015 Oct 6 to COMMUNICATE the date more clearly.
To COMMUNICATE well we need to understand what is perceived. Some statistics quoted in this book included “In situations where feelings and attitudes are being communicated:
- What we say accounts for only 7% of what is believed.
- The way we say it accounts for 38%.
- What others see accounts for 55%.
Amazingly, more than 90% of the impression we often convey has nothing to do with what we actually say.”
Jesse Giglio was attributed with “The greatest problem in communication is the illusion that it has been accomplished.”
