Communicate 2 Connect with styling

When asked who are your close buddies during work from home, are they your joggers or PJ's? And when you suddenly have to present yourself in a meeting or a video recording do you find yourself starring at the wardrobe guessing what to wear? Feels like ages since we wore those formals. Right!

Dressing well does not only embrace your style but also has an impact on your moods which can make or break connections, with your personal and professional life.

(Try this interesting experiment at the end)

Well quoted by Blake Lively, "the most beautiful thing you can wear is your confidence". But to help it reflect outside let's have a glance at ways you can discover your style and Communicate to Connect, leaving the best impression.

Did you know dressing well is an aspect of confidence and it helps increase your work performance?

Wondering if it's about too much makeup or head-to-toe formals? NOPE. A simple smart casual presented in the right way can also fit here.

  1. Discover your style: You needn't imitate or copy someone else who looks good, instead, try to observe what makes YOU look good. Note the various colours, shades, patterns, prints, types of clothing wear and accordingly style them.

Have you faced this before? You ordered something because that looked good on the model but when you tried it, it didn't look the same. Not every piece can align with the way you imagine. So try and figure what all can be on your list.

2. Comfort first: Haven't wore a tie before, not comfortable in heels? Who says you have to wear them if that isn't your match. Yes, you should move out of your comfort zone, no doubt! but styling and confidence go hand in hand. It isn't about impressing someone by wearing something you don't like or will not be able to manage but instead try it by being yourself.

3. Know the occasion: Have you worn the wrong dress code before? Knowing the occasion does not only help with dressing well but also gives a clue about the audience. You definitely would not want to be the ODD one out. After all, it's how you represent yourself entirely. (example: avoid dull colours during the day, dark colours in the summer seasons etc.)

We often have this misconception of how we don't bother what others think but here YOU become a priority to brand yourself in the best possible way.

4. Wear what fits: Embrace your body, yourself which will automatically connect with others. Over the years we have brought the misconception about being tall, skinny, bold and too confident, to be a certain size or shape. Don't let others restrictions create a web that overlooks your unique style.

If something looks body-hugging (tight) wear another size, if some cloth is baggy and doesn't look good find the size that fits well. Dress your best.

Merge all these tips to build your own personal style.

Try this experiment:

Wear pj's for a week, check the mood you are in during the weekdays. Switch to wearing comfy yet presentable clothes and observe the energy in the next week. There might be drastic changes in the mood of how you feel with both different styles.

Isn't that interesting?
