The Commonwealth Association of Young Planners and the Commonwealth Association of Young Architects, with support from the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and Royal Institute of British Architects, have come together to illustrate how young professionals can influence urbanism and sustainability. The manifesto entitled: Powering our Common Future: Urbanism in the Commonwealth was presented to the Youth Forum, as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in London. The Manifesto is intended to provide a prescription for how young people can help deliver Sustainable Development Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
The manifesto aims to ensure that the views of young planners and architects influence the Commonwealth they will help to create. It aims to demonstrate the importance of sharing practice across professions and between professionals, and the value of having a vision for how young people can influence their society to achieve sustainable development.
