Commonly Well Update

Hello!

Four years ago this month, during a world-changing event, Commonly Well was born from the opportunity to bring the Recovery Capital Index? (RCI) and better outcomes measurement to more treatment and recovery organizations.

Many of you have been part of this journey as customers, colleagues, friends, advisors, industry connections, or curious observers. This is immensely humbling to our team. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or are following from a distance, you likely share our values of collaboration, curiosity, quality, and transparency.

In that spirit, I want to share some updates about Commonly Well’s vision, our current and upcoming products and services, and what this means for our field.

Buying vs Building

When we set out four years ago to commercialize the RCI, we chose to use an existing software platform rather than build new technology from scratch. This decision allowed us to quickly and cost-effectively create a functional, no-frills version of the RCI. From our early adopters, we learned the need for greater flexibility in assessment delivery, leading to our current solution: easy-to-use text messaging for enhanced client engagement and improved data capture, offering a secure experience for participants.

Over the last year, our customers have provided insightful feedback, requesting more analytics, recovery-specific functionality, and a digital recovery plan tool driven by the RCI. We built a prototype powered by the latest generative AI technology. Advisors, beta testers, and customers overwhelmingly loved what we built and gave us more requests! However, our current technology couldn’t support all the requests.

Creating the Future State

This feedback encouraged us to build our recovery intelligence product from the ground up. There are still significant gaps between the utility of an EMR and the need for real-time and longitudinal outcomes measurement. And since we have some of the most thoughtful and demanding partners, it only makes sense for us to take the reins and build a product that we own and are empowered to direct its development.

Here’s what this means for our current and future solutions:

  • Current Solution: We will continue to offer our current solution as an entry-level product with defined features and functionality. Organizations can use this to boost client engagement and monitor long-term recovery outcomes. (Start with this solution for $100/month – START NOW)
  • Supplemental Services: Commonly Well will offer supplemental data and advisory services to expand the analytical reach and measurement of outcomes your organization needs through our technology or by analyzing your data.
  • New Premium Solution: Our new software solution will be our premium offering with dedicated behavioral health, addiction treatment, and recovery support functionality, featuring the RCI as part of a more unified outcomes model. This solution will include our new AI copilot, Kirby, with more details coming soon!

Development is underway, led by Justin Smith, our resident neuroscientist and Chief Technology Officer. The initial launch version will go live during National Recovery Month in September (E!!!!!!!!!!!!), followed by updates from October to December.
