Commonly Well Spring Update

Building a Recovery Intelligence System for a Human-Centered and Data Rich Future

Hello.?

Four years ago this month, in the middle of a world changing event, Commonly Well was born out of the opportunity to bring the Recovery Capital Index? (RCI) and better outcomes measurement to more treatment and recovery organizations.??

Many of you have been along for the entire journey as customers, colleagues, friends, advisors, industry connections, or curious lurkers. This is immensely humbling to our team. But whether you are a long-time customer or watcher from afar, you believe you share our values of collaboration, curiosity, quality, and transparency.??

It is in that spirit that this note comes to you today. I want to share some updates about Commonly Well’s vision, the products and services we have and will soon have, and what that means for our field.?

Buying vs Building?

When we set out four years ago to commercialize the RCI, the big decision was whether to create a new technology from scratch or use an existing software platform. The latter was faster and cheaper, and it exercised our love of collaboration and partnerships. The first version of the RCI was no frills but it worked. We learned from our early adopting customers and realized we needed greater flexibility for assessment delivery. That got us to the current solution many experience today: easy to use text messaging for enhanced client engagement that improves RCI and survey data capture with a better reporting environment.?It’s also a convenient and secure experience for participants.?

Over the last year, however, our customers have shared many insightful requests based on day-to-day needs. In addition to more analytics and recovery specific functionality, the most frequent ask was for a digital recovery plan tool driven by the Recovery Capital Index. That request led us to build a prototype powered by the latest generative AI technology. Advisors, beta testers, and customers overwhelmingly loved what we built and gave us more requests! Unfortunately, our current state of technology doesn’t allow us to build out those requests.?

Creating the future state?

Thanks to all the encouragement we’ve received, Commonly Well is building its own recovery intelligence product from the ground up. There are still too many gaps between the utility of an EMR and the need for real-time AND longitudinal outcomes measurement. And since we have some of the most thoughtful and demanding partners, it only makes sense for us to take the reins and build a product that we own and can direct its development.?

Here’s what this means for our current solution and the coming solution:?

  • We will continue to offer the current solution as an entry-level product with defined features and functionality. Any organization can use this solution to boost client engagement and monitor recovery outcomes long-term.?

?[psst: you can get started with this solution right now for $100 / mo. START NOW ]?

  • Commonly Well will offer supplemental data and advisory services to expand the analytical reach and measurement of outcomes your organization needs – either through our technology offerings or by exploring and analyzing all your data.?
  • Our new software solution will be our premium offering with dedicated behavioral health, addiction treatment, and recovery support functionality.?
  • Commonly Well’s future solution will feature the RCI as part of a more unified outcomes model – giving any organization better recovery intelligence from day one.?
  • And the future solution will include our new AI copilot called Kirby. More on Kirby and the AI integration in the coming months!?

Development on Commonly Well’s is under way and is being led by our resident neuroscientist and Chief Technology Officer, Justin Smith. The initial launch version will go live in September during National Recovery Month!?

?

The initial version will have some limitations, but we are planning a series of fast-follow updates between October and December.?

Over the coming months, we’ll send regular updates and share the process of building this new recovery intelligence system.?

If you want updates before anyone else and want access to the new system when we launch in September, you can join our early adopter program. ?

How’s the Early Adopter Program Work??

  • Reserve your spot for initial access in September. ?
  • Reservation is $100 per month.?
  • When you sign up, we’ll give you access to our current system to use for text messaging and the RCI.?
  • You’ll be part of our initial user testing and get to provide critical feedback. ?
  • When we go live in the fall, you’ll get first access. ?
  • Your data in our current system will be migrated post-launch.?
  • You lock in the rate of $100 per month through the end of the year. Standard subscription and service rates will apply in January.?

If you want to talk to us before reserving your spot – book a time to talk . ?

Serving your success?

Your work is challenging, and society is still skeptical about the efficacy of treatment and recovery support. Our focus is to help you capture the best data to inform better care, and to organize that data so you can show the world your impact and value.

Our team has decades of diverse experience in large healthcare informatics, running community-based organizations, leading treatment facilities, running a financial services practice, neuroscience, and broadcast journalism.

Grateful to Johanna M. Dolan , Justin Smith, Ph.D. , and Steve Millette for their dedication to the Commonly Well vision and mission.

And thank you for trusting us in the vital role of data, measurement, and research. We’re grateful to serve you and your mission to save and transform lives.?

Congratulations! Excited for you and your team! ??
