Common sense on priorities about to occur?

Common sense on priorities about to occur?

Many years ago I was somewhat controversial in suggesting in a speech that I didn't happen to think that the NBN was the most important infrastructure priority in Australia. I was attacked by the technology press for being a traitor! How dare I suggest there was anything more important than a high-speed broadband network!

Amusing really, given that I then went to the NBN as Chief Commercial Officer and lead the first strategic review of the NBN!

What I actually said was that the NBN was one of the important projects for Australia however THE most important priority was watering Australia.

What could be more important to Australia, clearly one of the world's most efficient agricultural producers, than leveraging our natural strength and harnessing the massive amount of water we have to become a bigger food producer. We could even pipe water around and run broadband cables attached to the water pipes (!).

So I was thrilled today to read that there is now discussion starting about building more dams to harness water to expand our agricultural capacity.

Wow! Could it be that common sense is about to come back into fashion?

Awsome thinking Tim, and it's about time suggestions of changing implementations occur before its too late regarding the infrastructure of the dam. I am always wondering and amazed how can the people of Australia grow in leaps and bounds but our supply of water is still the same. It's very important changes are made to keep up the demand. Step in the right direction!

.............hope so but how many times have we heard about this in the past. I seem? to remember Tony Abbot making this a priority but it never happened.
