???Common Misunderstanding in ESD Clothing Material Standards!

One frequent mistake in discussing the ESD properties of materials is referencing the test method used rather than the actual limit-setting standard. Today, I noticed a common mistake related to ESD clothing that could easily lead to misunderstandings,

Name of labratory is blured with esd logo picture. This to avoid possible harm to them
I did put an esd picture over the name of the institute !

ESD Standards like?IEC 61340-4-2?and?ANSI STM2.1?primarily outline testing methodologies—they do not establish any limits. Therefore, claiming that a material is "certified" under a standard that merely describes a testing method is misleading.

I'm intrigued to know who certifies such claims, especially since there isn't any recognized certification program globally for this.

For enhanced credibility, it would be far more effective to label esd clothing materials as “IEC 61340-5-1 / ANSI S20.20 compliant.”

This would instill greater confidence in the material's ESD performance.

Let's prioritize clarity in our communications and uphold industry standards! ??

The ESD Association has started a laboratory accreditation to establish that a lab has the equipment and environmental controls to test to IEC or ANSI/ESD test standards. See https://www.esda.org/certification/product-qualification-laboratory-certification/ for more information.

Indeed, many ESD products are claimed to be compliant a standard test method or are certified for that matter. But alas, compliancy to a standard test method, doesn’t make it compliant to the limit setting standard (IEC61340-5-1 or ANSI S20.20). And to my knowledge, no internationally recognized certification authority for ESD related products (!) exists. There are international authorities who certify people on their knowledge level, but not products. But hey! I am only human, perhaps I can become enlightened and made aware of something new too, as a result of this article. So let’s hear it, if I was wrong and did explain this incorrectly to Pim.
