COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT BIAX FOUNDATIONS – ITEM 2

“The mesh sits too low in the slab and needs to be chaired up.”

Biax slabs are the result of meticulous engineering design, specifically designed to maximise the strength capability of reinforcing mesh structurally. Biax pods, with their superior 2mm thick recycled polypropylene plastic construction, are adept at protecting the reinforcing steel from moisture. This?starkly contrasts with?polystyrene waffle pods manufactured using moisture, leading to?moisture?retention?within the pod.

Having the slab mesh in the lower third of the slab significantly enhances flexural (and in turn tensile) strength. This means that when a point load is applied down on the slab, the?wire mesh installed in the lower third of the slab will provide?increased resistance to bending and, therefore, greater strength.

A Customer Experience

“At Final Finish Concreting we have been using Biax for nearly two years, with over 10,000m2 lay we have found the system to be very easy to work with, it is saving us hours of labour on each job allowing us to get more slabs on the ground.

The Biax system has been an easy transition for all skill levels compared to other pod slabs and with no cutting or waste, our sites have never been this clean which has aided in us winning more work in sensitive areas and on windy days.

With the pods being plastic, our slabs are more consistent in the finish with even drying times and no cracking being found.”

Yep. Worthwhile pointing these things out. Sometimes it's hard for people to change old ways of thinking.
