Common Chemicals and Their Rational Use in Flotation Process of Non-Ferrous Mineral Beneficiation

In recent years, various aspects have put forward higher requirements for the efficiency and quality of mineral mining. Flotation agents play an important role in the process of non-ferrous metal ore dressing, and scientifically practical flotation agents can improve the efficiency and quality of ore dressing. Therefore, this article will briefly analyze the commonly used agents and their reasonable use in the flotation process of non-ferrous metals.

1. Common agents used in the flotation process of non-ferrous metals

1.1 Foaming Agents

Foaming agents are relatively commonly used in flotation agents and can detect the activity and physicochemical properties of metals. From the actual situation, foaming agents can be divided into two types: pure foaming agents and capture foaming agents, and all foaming agents control their properties by utilizing their ability to change activity. When using foaming agents, staff can monitor the chemical reactions and gas changes that occur during the flotation process of non-ferrous metal substances. Under normal circumstances, the application of foaming agents in the process of non-ferrous metal ore dressing is to measure the tension of bubbles to determine the metal content in the ore area. Previously, China used pine oil as a flotation foaming agent for non-ferrous metal ore dressing. However, pine oil has a relatively low cost-effectiveness and is not environmentally friendly. In recent years, staff have used artificially synthesized foaming agents such as ether and ether alcohol compounds and advanced alcohols, which have better performance and lower prices.

1.2 Adjusting Agent

Adjusting agents are commonly used flotation reagents in the selection of non-ferrous metals. They are a kind of flocculent and appear in a granular form. The application of adjusting agents in the selection of non-ferrous metals can reflect the effect of activators in the actual testing process. Adjusting agents can adjust the effects of other reagents and mineral surfaces, as well as adjust the properties of the slurry. There are many types of adjusting agents, and their effects are different. Some adjusting agents can promote the interaction between collectors and minerals, enhance the floatability of minerals, and are called activators. Some adjusting agents weaken the interaction between collectors and minerals, reduce the floatability of minerals, and have the opposite effect of activators, and are called inhibitors. There are also some adjusting agents that can adjust the pH value of the slurry, change the electrical properties of the mineral surface, and then change the composition of the slurry ions. Some adjusting agents can make the fine mud in the slurry appear dispersed, flocculated, or aggregated, and are called dispersants or flocculants.

1.3 Collector

Collectors are flotation reagents that can selectively act on the surface of minerals and make the mineral particles hydrophobic. They have important value in mineral exploration. Under the influence of factors such as long-term burial, non-ferrous metals and other minerals will undergo oxidation, which will affect mining operations. The application of collectors can effectively enhance the intensity and effectiveness of mining operations. Collectors have important value in the selection of precipitated metals, oxidized ores, and sulfide ores. For example, thio-urea, xanthate, and black powder can be used as collectors for the mining of sulfide copper ores. Among them, xanthate plays an important role in the flotation of copper sulfide ore, and can be used in conjunction with other collectors for flotation.

2. How to use the reagents rationally in the flotation process of non-ferrous metals

2.1 Increase the intensity of drug analysis

Flotation reagent is a kind of comprehensive chemical reagent, which can analyze and process the physical and chemical reactions of substances, and plays an important role in the non-ferrous metal beneficiation process. In the process of continuous development of the non-ferrous metal mining industry, the optional range of flotation reagents is also expanding, but only scientific selection of flotation reagents according to the actual needs of mineral processing can improve the quality of metal beneficiation. Therefore, the staff need to conduct a comprehensive analysis of different types of flotation reagents, clarify their advantages and disadvantages, and then analyze the mining technology applied, so as to give full play to the role of flotation reagents in the non-ferrous metal beneficiation process. At the same time, the staff need to scientifically select the flotation agent, choose the appropriate mineral exploration method to carry out the agent test, and conduct in-depth research on the new high-efficiency flotation agent, so as to improve the quality of mineral processing.

2.2 Strengthen the analysis of drug combination

When beneficiating non-ferrous metals, the staff need to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the combination of flotation agents to optimize the treatment effect of flotation agents. Some flotation agents can be used in combination, and the effect of using them together will be better, so the staff need to actively study how to match different flotation agents together, so as to provide favorable conditions for the development of non-ferrous metal beneficiation. Secondly, the staff need to improve the test work quality of flotation reagents to ensure that the actual application requirements meet the technical requirements of actual exploration. In addition, the staff need to clarify the matching ratio of flotation reagents to enhance the rationality of the matching ratio. For example, in the exploration of conventional metal minerals, the mixed reagents of sodium sulfite and formalin can be used for mineral processing, which can effectively improve the quality of mineral processing.

2.3 Scientifically control the drug concentration

The control of reagent concentration is a key link in the process of using flotation reagents, which will affect the beneficiation quality of non-ferrous metals. When mining metal minerals, there are clear requirements for both the selection of the type of flotation agent and the control of the concentration. If the concentration of the flotation agent is not scientifically controlled, the beneficiation effect will be affected. For this reason, the staff need to pay more attention to the control of the concentration of flotation reagents and improve the quality of ore dressing.

Flotation reagents can be used to detect the category characteristics and physical and chemical properties of metal materials in mining areas. Foaming agents, regulators, collectors, etc. are commonly used flotation reagents, so it is necessary to increase the analysis of reagents when applying flotation reagents Intensively and actively carry out the matching analysis of reagents and strictly control the concentration of reagents, improve the level of non-ferrous metal beneficiation work, and promote the development of non-ferrous metal industry.
