Committing to $100K Guaranteed Minimum per Year for Our Drivers
We have a driver shortage in our country that impacts us all. This shortage has been exacerbated by the growth in online retailing. For JK Moving, the economics are simple. We must increase our fleet to 500 trucks nationwide to keep up with customer demand for relocation moves across the country. That growth means that we must hire at least 100 drivers as quickly as we can, as it is very hard to create more customer bookings until we have drivers to service these moves.
Last week, we at JK were excited to announce a $100,000 minimum salary guarantee per year for OTR CDL-A truck drivers. While that salary alone is close to double the national average, these drivers will receive the same benefits as our full-time JK Moving employees: profit-sharing, a 401(k), paid health care, paid time off as well as many other benefits. Guaranteeing the income helps to ensure more consistent payment throughout the year for our long-haul drivers, including during traditionally slower times. This commitment to guaranteed minimum salaries and top benefits puts JK OTR drivers among the top-25 highest paying jobs in the nation, according to Glassdoor.
The program is working, as our recruiters are bringing in new, highly qualified drivers. There are several drivers in the application and qualifications stage, and we are putting more qualified drivers on the road in JK trucks. These drivers are coming to us from all over the United States. We need drivers across the country as we actively move customers to all 48 continental states and Washington, DC.
Attracting and retaining the industry's best employees is a top priority at JK. We’re expanding our fleet by bringing on new 2022 Volvo VNL 860s powered by the Cummins X15 engines. We are among the first in line to receive the Tesla Semi when it goes into production. And JK is unparalleled in offering training and career development, allowing non-CDL drivers to start work right away while also training to achieve their CDL licenses.
