For nearly 20 years, SunRich Foods has been designing and manufacturing quality products for the foodservice industry. Behind their work is the art of science of food services. Wally and Alex Barakat joined us in the studio to tell us more about their family venture and how they manage their work within the food industry. Here are three takeaways from our time with Wally and Alex Barakat on Critical Mass Radio Show:
1. Build a relationship with your clients/customers and listen to their feedback. Develop an open dialogue, and be willing to work for a higher level of quality and marketability. Work with your clients from the beginning if possible, and let them tell you if a product is ready to go to market. You will know when your product is ready to enter the market by how much it appeals to your consumer base.
2. Emphasize quality and safety. Wally and Alex discussed how food service is a long established industry, but that, at the same time, consumer trends, tastes, demands and expectations change. While it is important to listen to your customers, be responsive to trends, and meet the needs of your consumers/clients, it is also essential to prioritize consistency, quality and safety as you move forward with your product.
3. Commit yourself to excellence, day in and day out. Ensure that everything is accomplished/produced at the same high level of precision and quality, meeting necessary regulations. Do not deviate from these standards, as having a high level of consistency is what makes your product or service reliable and duplicable, and lets clients know that they can count on your brand. Wally and Alex also discussed how their company effectively balances the size of their company with their ability to be both large enough to meet demand, and small enough to be responsive to their customers and meet individual needs.
