Commitments and Celebrations

Commitments and Celebrations

Success and failure aren't guaranteed.

One of my own life legends, Tunch and Sharon Ilkin, both openly shared with me their successes and failures. Tunch, a Pittsburgh football player, loved to talk about his wins, training, and pushing towards a goal.

But, along the way to a championship were many failures, much practice, and a lot of commitment. Not only to the goal, but to the team, to family, and to God.

As business owners, we can get lost in the day-to-day things we have to do. This is the week, statistically speaking, when most strategic plans and new years resolutions die. They die not due to a lack of imagination but to a lack of resolve, a lack of belief that the vision itself is worth pursuing.

So, taking inspiration from some legends who inspired me and so many others, here are some thoughts about keeping your vision alive.

  1. Chose wisely. I remember Sharon often talking about how easy it was to become busy, and the power of a wise choice sets our destiny.
  2. Commit 100%. We are so used to change, and the one who succeeds isn't the one with the most talent, the greatest gift, or the best business acumen. It is the person who takes consistent, committed long-term action.
  3. Celebrate the Wins. Celebration is something we don't do enough. Celebrate each baby step, each small win towards your goal becoming a reality.

What steps are you taking to make your business strategic plan a reality? How is it going? If you are lost in the mundane, let's talk about how a strategic roadmap can help you reach your vision faster than you and your team thought possible.
