Lake County, Illinois, continuously improves their systems to ensure veteran homelessness remains rare, brief and nonrecurring.

Two days before ringing in Independence Day in 2019, Lake County, Illinois, demonstrated their commitment to veterans when they announced functional zero.

Four years later, they continue to sustain this milestone for solving veteran homelessness.

“They are all incredible exemplars of the value of ‘failing forward’ and courageous exploration into change ideas that help their system continuously improve,” Elise Topazian, Program Lead, Path to Zero, commented.

When it comes to solving homelessness, we know what is critical: gathering communities around shared aims, building collective will, and leveraging data to drive toward zero.?

That’s why we’re thrilled that Illinois is the latest state to announce its plan to scale quality data. It joins Colorado and Maine as the third state to work on scaling data statewide.
