A Commitment to Transparent, Accountable, and Inclusive Governance

On the occasion of Good Governance Day, we reflect on the core values that ensure governance serves the people effectively—Transparency, Accountability, and Inclusivity. This day, celebrated in India on December 25th, marks the birth anniversary of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former PM of India, whose unwavering commitment to good governance laid the foundation for many of the reforms we see today. It is also a reminder of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ’s vision of a transparent and people-centric government that empowers citizens and drives the nation’s progress for making Viksit Bharat.

With nearly 26 years of experience in public service, I have witnessed how these principles can transform public service delivery, making it more efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of citizens. Good governance is not just about fulfilling obligations but about building trust with the people and enhancing their overall well-being. We are moving towards an ecosystem of governance that is not just efficient but also equitable and empowering for all.

In line with this vision, India’s digital transformation has played a pivotal role in strengthening governance. Platforms like MyGov, Digital India, & NeGD enable seamless interaction between citizens and the government, ensuring that every voice is heard and every concern addressed. Through such initiatives, we empower citizens to participate in decision-making, fostering a government that is not only responsive but also proactive in meeting the needs of the public.

DPI & other Digital tools are a key driver in the government’s efforts to make services more transparent, efficient and facilitate ease of living. They bridge gaps, reduce inefficiencies, and bring citizens closer to governance. This is particularly evident in the way MyGov facilitates open dialogue and collaboration across the nation, ensuring that no voice goes unheard.

India, as the Vishwaguru of governance, offers a transformative model for the world to emulate. By empowering citizens through direct participation and streamlining services digitally, India has set a global benchmark in citizen-centric governance. As countries worldwide seek to strengthen their governance frameworks, India’s approach provides valuable insights into how technology can bridge gaps, foster accountability, and drive sustainable, inclusive development.

On this Good Governance Day, let us reaffirm our shared responsibility in building a future where governance is truly for the people, by the people, and with the people.
