Commitment and the Creative Process

Commitment and the Creative Process

Have you ever wondered how we’ve advanced so quickly as a society over the past 100 years? How did we go from horse and buggy to airplanes and space shuttles?

Every technological advance that we enjoy was once just a dream in someone’s imagination.

Ford’s Model T, Edison’s lightbulb, Job’s smartphone, the internet, refrigerators, microwaves...all began as a thought that grew through the creative process. All took focus and commitment to bring them from thought to physical form.

Anyone could have created any of the advancements we experience today. But few make the committed decision to follow through on their desires.

The Creative Process is simple. So simple, in fact, that most people reject it. After all, weren’t you taught that you have to “work hard”, or that there is “no gain without pain and struggle”?

It seems counter intuitive that something as advanced as the iPhone could have come from a simple process.

Therein lies a huge part of the problem—the belief that it must be hard. That belief is what stops most people from being the next Edison, or Ford, or Jobs.

Here are the three steps to the Creative Process:

  • Imagination (birth of the idea)
  • Theory (forming the idea and committing to see it through)
  • Fact (physical manifestation of the idea)

This Creative Process is the same for a personal goal, such as better health, better relationships, more money; and for professional goals, such as innovation of new products, increasing productivity of departments and teams, or moving up the corporate ladder.

Going from Imagination to Fact involves focus and commitment. The action comes later.

Imagination is the spark that ignites the process. If you think Imagination is just for little kids playing pretend, think again. The great innovators of our past and present specifically set aside time to imagine...to exercise their mental muscles.

Everything begins in the mind...EVERYTHING!

So, if you want to get ahead in any facet of life, you have to use your Imagination!

One of the best questions to get your Imagination muscles in shape is: “What would I love?”

This is a question you should be asking yourself often.

Unfortunately when this question is answered, there is an immediate detour to “but how?”

Avoid this detour at all costs. Asking “how” is a quick and certain death of an idea. It puts up roadblocks in the Creative Process that are often impossible to see past.

The best thing you can do is think of these two questions and how you will answer them:

  • Am I able?
  • Am I willing?

When you study the mind you will become aware that you have infinite potential to be, do, and have ANYTHING you desire. So, the answer to the first question is “Yes!” Keep that understanding in the forefront of your mind as you make the decision to achieve anything.

The second question, “Am I willing?” is in your hands. “Am I willing to do what it takes to bring this idea into form?”

When you answer “Yes” to this question, the Creative Process kicks into high gear. This is your Commitment to yourself, and your goal. It’s your statement to the Universe that you are serious.

You may think the next step is ACTION! Nope, not quite yet.

Now it’s time to stretch those mental muscles a bit more with focus.

This Commitment you made must be given mental energy daily. You must build within you a burning desire to see this through. It consumes your attention. It feels amazing when you think about it. You can see the end in your mind, and see yourself there.

As you build your practice of focus, ideas will begin to come to you. This is when you take action. This action will be inspired. Inspired action is far more productive and effective than action for action’s sake.

As you stay committed to your vision, and persistent in your focus, more ideas will come. You will meet people you need to co-create with. Things you need will come into your awareness. This is why you don’t need to ask “how?”. The “how” is a byproduct of the Creative Process.

The commitment to this process is what keeps the engine running to the finish line. It's what brings the imagined idea into physical fact.

The Creative Process works every time because it is in harmony with Universal Law. The more you study your mind and the more you practice this process, the easier creating and innovating will be for you.

If you are ready to harmonize with this process and really create the life you want, I invite you to book a call with me. I have taught many amazing people to create what they want through a 24-Week Prosperity Process called Thinking Into Results.
