Commit, don't resolve

Commit, don't resolve

Wanted: 10 people who are tired of making resolutions that don’t work and are ready to commit to learning how to set goals that do.

Stop making resolutions!

You read that right. Stop making resolutions because they don’t work. Just because you ‘resolve’ to do a thing doesn’t mean you are committed to it. That’s why only 8% of New Year’s Resolutions are kept and achieved.

We treat resolutions today as a wish, something we’d like to do. But there’s no true commitment behind it. Because of that, they’ve become a fad and after a couple weeks we forget all about them or have given up on them.

I never was one to make resolutions, but I always had wishes or wants like most people. I’d wish I had a better paying job, I wished I could afford better clothes or toys for my kids. I wanted to get out of debt and have a new car.

They were just wants and wishes. But I’d get another job that paid more and buy a little better car. The debt seemed to grow at the same time.

Then I had an idea for a book about creating a plan to achieve goals based on stories and examples of nurturing and growing for a successful harvest on the farm. The same processes we used to reach a successful harvest were the same anyone could use to create a plan and achieve their goals.

But it was just another idea and want. I hung on to that want for 8 years.

Then one day I had a friend say, “Mark, start writing the book tomorrow and give me a copy of what you’ve written every week until you’re finished.”

That day I made a commitment to my friend to write the book. I started the next morning, and after 100 days writing every morning the manuscript was finished. Three months later I was holding the first proof copy of the book.

Who would have thought a commitment made to a friend would accomplish something 8 years of ‘wanting’ couldn’t!

So it got me wondering who else has been living in ‘want-land’ like I had been? Maybe they’re wanting to lose weight or eat healthier, maybe they want to save money to send their kids to college, or maybe they want to start a business to control their own future.

But wanting isn’t committing.

So that’s why I’m looking for 10 people who are ready to commit and it’s free. No more wanting, it’s time for doing. No more wishing, it’s time for succeeding.

Here’s the details you must commit to:

  1. Pursue at least one goal you have been ‘wanting’ to achieve.
  2. Attend and participate in 6 weekly meetings online for one hour.
  3. Follow the process to create your individual plan.
  4. Give an update each week of your progress.
  5. Support and encourage the others in the group.

You’ll be added to a private Facebook group so everyone in the group can ask questions and get support and report on their success.

The 6 weekly meetings will be held online in a video meeting on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET and the first one will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. If you’ve got the guts to commit to what you really want, then let’s start off the year right. And it won’t cost you a dime just some time!

Why 6 weeks you ask? Because if you’re like me it might be difficult to commit to a longer time at first. Also, we’re going to to take quick action to get your plan together and get started. If it was shorter you won’t have enough time to get in a groove. If it’s longer you’ll get bored.

So, are you in? You’ve got less than a week to decide. Don’t wait, I’m going to take the first 10 people who send me an email to [email protected] and say “Yes Mark, I’m ready to commit!”

Commit now to a better 2019!
