News from SNAP
Promoting safety ??
SNAP’s European Partnership and Development Manager, Nick Long , spoke to TAPA EMEA about the importance of safety and security at truck stops. Learn what he had to say on page 19.
Supporting drivers’ mental health ??
Our research on mental health in the haulage industry featured in several publications including Motor Transport. While it’s a silent epidemic, thankfully there’s the ‘Be A Mate’ text service where drivers can talk to trained volunteers if they’re struggling with their mental health. Find out more about it here or read our own tips on improving emotional wellbeing.
Rounding up the TruckPark Tour 2024 ??
We concluded this year’s TruckPark Tour at the end of August – it was such a success that we’ve put together a highlights video. Check it out below ?
Update from Access & Security ??
We installed additional internal CCTV cameras at Embassy Truck Stop, providing further coverage.
Plus, the first ELO went live at MFG Monktonhall – this uses the new customer-facing web app to pay for parking. Four more MFG sites also went live.
October events ???
This month our team have been to the Logistics Summit in Düsseldorf and TransLogistica Romania . They’ll also attend TransLogistica Poland next week in Warsaw.
New sites to know about
We’ve added many new service partners to the SNAP network recently. The following will be available in Germany, the UK, and France.
Industry insights ??
Queclink Wireless Solutions releases solar-powered asset trackers
This advancement will feature a light sensor to help detect non-permitted removal from vehicles or interference. As a result, it’ll allow for quicker reactions to any possible thefts.
Green light paused on the Lower Thames Crossing
Unfortunately, the government recently delayed deciding on the Lower Thames Crossing until May 2025 at the earliest. If this project is eventually approved, it would boost road capacity and cut congestion at the Dartford Crossing.
Schengen entry fees coming soon
From mid-2025, UK and EU residents will need to pay to cross Schengen borders. For UK drivers entering the EU, it’ll be €7 to secure an authorisation document, which is valid for up to 3 years. And it’ll be £10 for EU drivers to gain a permit that will allow them to come into the UK for up to 2 years.
Ask SNAP: What facilities can I find at your truck stops? ??
These vary by service partner. You can find out what each one offers by checking out our map or downloading the intruck app.
Want your own question answered? Send it to us and it could feature in our next newsletter!
Words of praise ??
“The best thing about SNAP Account is the ease of use for our drivers. Wincanton drivers can phone SNAP or use the intruck app to book parking spaces at SNAP’s Depot Parking Sites. Then they can pay ‘paperless-ly’ through our site’s SNAP accounts.” – Wincanton
