Commemorating Armenian Genocide

Commemorating Armenian Genocide

Every year on April 24 we remember and pay homage to 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 (the first genocide of the 20th century). Starting this year we also remember the victims of second Armenian Genocide of 2023 who either lost their lives or were ethnically cleansed from their ancestral land in Artsakh.

First Armenian Genocide: When I was a kid and for the first time learned about Armenian Genocide, there was a question in my mind: "how did 'CIVILIZED WORLD' react to that heinous barbarian crime?" When I grew up and read more, I found out that the barbarians got awarded with Western Armenia! The German Reich who provided the Ottoman Empire with the weapons to carry out the Armenian genocide, never paid for the atrocities. According to a new report Prussian officers also laid the "ideological foundations" for the massacre. Mauser, Germany's main manufacturer of small arms in both world wars, supplied the Ottoman Empire with millions of rifles and handguns, which were used in the genocide with the active support of German officers. "Mauser really had a rifle monopoly for the Ottoman Empire," said the report's author, Wolfgang Landgraeber, a filmmaker who has made several films about German weapons exports. According to Landgraeber Prussian officers provided both material and ideological support. The Armenian Genocide was one of the most compelling human rights crises of WWI, helping to inspire Adolf Hitler three decades later to carry out the atrocities of WWII. On August 22, 1939, in preparation for the impending invasion of Poland, Hitler stated to Reichmarshal Hermann Goering and the commanding generals at Obersalzberg: “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?” Hitler’s quote is still relevant today because the forces of denial and revisionism are still striving to expunge from history the record of this enormous crime against humanity – the first modern genocide of the 20th century. The US administration under the presidency of Woodrow Wilson during the WWI was one of the most progressive governments that cared about human rights. However, Wilson alone couldn’t do anything against triumphant Russian forces. Therefore, Treaties of Lausanne and Sèvres in the aftermath of WWI were replaced with treaties of Moscow and Kars. Artsakh & Nakhichevan were donated to Azerbaijan by despot Stalin to placate the oil-producing Azerbaijan and Bolshevik Russia’s Kemalist allies in Turkey.

Second Armenian Genocide: This time barbarians got awarded with Artsakh. In September 2020 AZ's bloodthirsty petrol-dictator decided to use military force to “solve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict” in front of the eyes of "CIVILIZED WORLD" (eastern and western imperialist "superpowers"). Backed by Turkey (the only Muslim member of NATO) and Israel (the "only democracy" in the region) Azerbaijan took control of all surrounding territories during 44-day war, and ethnically cleansed Armenian population of Hadrut and Shushi (native inhabitant of the region for millennia). Following the capture of Shushi, the second-largest city of Artsakh, a ceasefire agreement brokered by Russia and jointly "monitored" by Turkey (instigator of the war) was signed on November 10, 2020. This was another betrayal of Armenian people by "eastern superpower"! During the 44-day war, CSTO declared Artsakh as not being an Armenian territory, and therefore no obligation to intervene. Then in May 2021, Azerbaijan invaded Armenia and occupied territories in Syunik and Gegharkunik (still under occupation). CSTO's reaction was a shameless justification of AZ. Secretary-general of CSTO Stanislav Zas told the media that "CSTO’s capacity is used only in the event of aggression, an invasion. Here we actually have a border incident. Thank God, there are no casualties, no shooting there. This is a border incident, it must be dealt with, and we are in favor of resolving the issue by peaceful means,". The kidnapping/killing of Armenian servicemen and villagers became routine and led to the renewed invasion of Armenia and occupation of more territories (Parukh) on September 13, 2022. In December 2022 the only life road to Artsakh came under the blockade of Azerbaijan and led to the starvation of Artsakh Armenians under the observation of "EU monitoring mission" and "Russian peacekeepers"! Ridiculously, CSTO reiterated its readiness to send a mission to Armenia to "monitor" situation! Could we expect otherwise from CSTO? Of course, NOT! Most of its members lined up to congratulate Aliyev on his victory over Armenian Christians. And the head of the organization (which happens to be Armenia's so-called "guarantor of security", "strategic partner" and "military ally) “brokered a ceasefire” to save their “pragmatic relationship” with Turkey (quasi-owner of Azerbaijan). The "pragmatic relationship" with Turkey even forced them to abandon their national pride and dignity. Russia stayed "pragmatic" (read passive) even when its military jet was shot down over Syria (2015), when its ambassador to Turkey was assassinated in Ankara (2016), or when Turkish/Azeri forces shot down a military copter over Nakhichevan and murdered two Russian servicemen (2020). And despite all of these, Russia invited Turkey (instigator of the genocidal war against the Armenian people) to monitor the so-called "ceasefire" in Artsakh jointly with "Russian peacekeepers"! Inviting Turkey to "monitor ceasefire" was just the beginning of the end for Artsakh. It gave a free hand to Aliyev to commit the second Armenian genocide on September 19, 2023, by the ethnic cleansing of the rest of Artsakh Armenians (native inhabitants of the region for millennia) under the observation of Russian "peacekeepers" and EU "monitoring mission". The end of the catastrophe was re-donating Artsakh to Azerbaijan. Artsakh that was donated to Azerbaijan by despot Stalin, was re-donated by Putin to AZ's bloodthirsty petrol-dictator. The "Russian peacekeeping forces" began withdrawing from Artsakh in April 2024. During the two years of "peacekeeping" the Russian forces made no attempt to prevent the Azerbaijani assault on Nagorno-Karabakh, nor Baku's previous blockage of the Lachin Corridor or Azerbaijani attacks on Armenia proper. And finally, they accomplished their "peacekeeping mission" by withdrawing from Artsakh after the ethnic cleansing of the rest of Artsakh Armenians.

The reaction of the “western civilized world” to second Armenian genocide was even worse! The “humanitarian intervention” endorsed by them and executed by their military machine NATO works very selectively when it comes to their interests. For example, in the case of "humanitarian intervention" to protect Kosovo Muslims from "genocide committed by Christian Serbs”, they didn't take into consideration the historical fact that one of the oldest Serbian monasteries ("Gra?anica" Serbian: Манастир Грачаница) built in 1321 by Serbian king Stefan Milutin is located in Kosovo! However, for them the "historical fact" was the "occupation of Kosovo by Serbia", and therefore, they helped Kosovo in their "struggle to achieve their right of self-determination"! They even put Milosevic on trial with "genocide" charges! 2010 award-winning Canadian documentary "The Weight of Chains" (in Serbian Te?ina lanaca) by Serbian-Canadian Boris Malagurski shed a different light on the "humanitarian intervention" of NATO in ex-Yugoslavia. It exposes the root causes of the Yugoslav wars and explains that the goal was for the "western civilized world" to create economic and geopolitical colonies in that part of the world. It also will show atrocities committed by the so-called “Kosovo Liberation Army” in Serbia (and ex-Yugoslavia).

And when it comes to genocide and ethnic cleansing of Christian Artsakh Armenians (native inhabitants of the region for millennia) by Azerbaijani Muslims and with the full support of Turkey (the only Muslim member of NATO) the same "humanitarian intervention" doesn’t apply because Artsakh is a "disputed territory” and "internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan". Therefore, they had to act differently concerning Artsakh. Right after the end of the 44-day war AZ’s bloodthirsty petro-dictator triumphantly celebrated the ethnic cleansing of Armenian people of Hadrut and Shushi, by saying: "We chased them out of our lands like dogs. I said that we would chase them, that we would chase them like dogs, and we chased them, we chased them like dogs. No-one can stop us. Everyone sees our strength; everyone understands what our iron fist is like. That is why we have driven them out and are perfectly right in doing that." Instead of condemning his barbarian act, Ursula von der Leyen praised Aliyev as “reliable, trustworthy partner” in July 2022. Also, no reaction from "western civilized world" to the invasion of Armenia and occupation of its territories in May 2021 (in Syunik and Gegharkunik), and in September 2022 (Parukh). In December 2022 the only life road to Artsakh came under the blockade of Azerbaijan and led to the starvation of Artsakh Armenians. Instead of condemning the barbarian act of genocide by starvation, in April 2023, they ordered Pashinoglu to "lower the bar on Artsakh" (i.e. recognize it as part of Azerbaijan), and promised him to "protect rights and security of Artsakh Armenians". However, ten months after the blockade of Artsakh, on September 19, when Azerbaijan launched a military offensive against Artsakh to carry out ethnic cleansing of the rest of Artsakh Armenians, they just stood idly alongside Russian "peacekeepers", and observed atrocities of AZ military against them! And now they offer "humanitarian aid to Armenia for the 120,000 Armenians forcibly displaced from Artsakh". The day after the sham election circus of Aliyev in Stepanakert, Charles Michel congratulated him for his "landslide victory". This was a green light to Aliyev to murder four Armenian soldiers a couple of days later.

Hypocritically, when it comes to anti-communism propaganda, Stalin is called an evil dictator by them (which is very true)! However, when it comes to the “territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”, the decree of the same "evil dictator" (i.e. donating Artsakh and Nakhichevan to Azerbaijan) becomes "international law"! What a disgusting hypocrisy, eh?
