Commemorate the Establishment of St. Augustine with SAFARI Montage!

In September of 1565, Spanish explorers established the colonial settlement of St. Augustine off the northeastern coast of Florida, thereby making the city the oldest continuously inhabited settlement of European origin in the United States. St. Augustine (Schlessinger Media) - On vacation with her parents, Tracy takes a journey through St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest permanent European settlement in America, founded by Spanish explorers in 1565. On a visit to Castillo de San Marcos, the fort built to protect the city and the Spanish galleons, Tracy learns of the struggles between Spain, France and England over land and treasure in the New World. During a tour of the Spanish Quarter, Tracy learns about the daily life and customs of the Spanish settlers as well as the lives of slaves in the colony and the history of the local Timucuan Indians. Available in English/Spanish. Grades 3-7.

Florida (Schlessinger Media) - On this trip we will explore Florida's landforms, taking a trip to the Florida Keys and exploring the vastness of the Everglades. We will travel to Disney World in the city of Orlando and the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park where people come to dive to view the magnificent multicolored coral reefs. We will meet local people, visit the John F. Kennedy Space Center, and learn how orange juice is produced. During our trip we will investigate the history, industry, natural resources and culture of the Sunshine State and journey along the Gulf of Mexico on the Intracoastal Waterway. Of course, no trip to Florida would be complete without a visit to cosmopolitan Miami, where we will soak up the sunshine and Cuban culture! Available in English/Spanish. Grades K-4.

Travel Through History: Discover St. Augustine (TMW Media) - In this episode of ''Travel Thru History,'' explore St. Augustine, Florida. Take a sip from the distinctively tasting Fountain of Youth, then touch the coquina walls of the undefeated Castillo San Marcos. Separate pirate truth from pirate myth at the Pirate Museum and cure what ails you at the oldest general store in the United States. Grades 5-Adult.

America’s National Parks: Everglades (National Geographic) - Established in 1947 to preserve the biological diversity and resources of the Everglades ecosystems, Everglades National Park protects 1.5 million acres of Florida's southern tip. This vast wetland contains many fascinating habitats and is home to thousands of species such as alligators, the elusive Florida panther and the delicate Key deer. Alligators create cypress domes and water holes in the marshland. In spring the alligators cross the Everglades, and gather for mating. Summer lightning causes fires in the Everglades, but the fire helps to restore islands of pine in the park. Turtles, crabs, egrets, herons and Key deer all have a place in the ecosystem of the park. Grades 6-Adult.

Underwater Florida Keys (Google) - This content from Google Arts & Culture combines text, images and 360° interactive imagery to create a dynamic learning experience that provides information about some of underwater sites in the Florida Keys, including Christ of the Abyss, Molasses Reef, marine life, tourism and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Benwood Wreck, the French Reef Restoration Area, and the Aquarius Reef Base, an underwater scientific laboratory. Grades K-Adult.
