COMMAND & RESPONSIBILITY
“You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.“
?- Marie Curie
05:28: As our 737 – 800 is towed up onto the gate, I peruse before me our Captain chatting with the Pit Crew leader or “Whisky”.
Both men possessive of positions of immense responsibility !
Under the “Whiskey’s” supervision, the Pit Crew will load our aircraft hold with both luggage & freight. Weight & balance is of great importance for safe aircraft operations & the whole process must be carried out with calculations and formula that provide every respect to this.
Upon completion, our Captain will sign the “Load & Trim” sheet, a legal document that says all is in order to ensure a safe take off. Every single commercial aircraft must carry out this process & as I watch the men before me discussing diligently the operation that’s about to take place before we depart, I’m filled with every confidence.
