According to recent statistics, the technology industry is still male-dominated. In 2020, only 26% of computing-related jobs were held by women in the United States, and the number is even lower for women of color. In product management, a study by the product management platform Aha! found that only 37% of product managers are women. Despite the underrepresentation of women, their contributions are critical to the growth of the field. Diversity in gender, race, ethnicity, and cultural background can lead to a wider range of perspectives, ideas, and solutions, ultimately resulting in better products and services that cater to a wider range of customers. Inclusion and diversity are not just buzzwords, but necessary factors for innovation and success in the tech industry. Women in tech and product management bring unique skills and qualities to the table, including empathy, communication, collaboration, and attention to detail. These skills are vital in building products that meet the needs of diverse user groups, from different genders, races, ages, and cultures. Amazing initiatve by Criya (YC W22)
