?COMING SOON: The State of Skills-Based Hiring 2024

Welcome to this week’s edition of Cut the BS. The title is a bit of a giveaway, but this week we’re announcing some exciting news.

Read on to find out when our annual State of Skills-Based Hiring report is launching, plus a few sneak peeks of what you can expect from this year’s report!

We’re launching The State of Skills-Based Hiring on June 4th ??

In March, we surveyed 2,119 employers and employees from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Latin America, Spain, Germany, and France to bring you our most global report to date. ??

The report will be available on our website from midnight on June 4th, and we’ve been working hard to make sure it’s as impactful and actionable as possible.

Moving the skills-based hiring conversation forward ??

The skills-based hiring conversation is blowing up, and every day we’re seeing more content about skills-based hiring.

A lot of that is focused on removing degree requirements (as we’ve already discussed, you can’t just remove degree requirements and call it skills-based hiring – but people are starting to get that now). Some of it is about policy changes in the US that are enabling skills-based recruitment.

But barely any of it is about how to do skills-based hiring best. The discourse has plateaued, and if we don’t move it forward we’re in danger of losing touch with what skills-based hiring is really about.

There’s not enough content about what employers are doing to validate skills, and how to do that well.

We really wanted to do something about that, so we focused on asking employers how they do skills-based hiring and what results they see, and asking candidates what they like to see in a skills-based hiring process, and what they don’t.

As a result, this year’s report is packed with data-driven, actionable insights about how to do skills-based hiring in a way that is best for both employers and candidates. ??

A sneak peek of this year’s findings ??

The data speaks for itself, so we’ll leave you with a few exciting key findings:?

  • Skills-based hiring is the #1 way to recruit, with 81% of employers using it in some form

  • 98% of employers agree that skills-based hiring is more effective than using resumes

  • 90% of candidates see skills-based hiring as a route to securing their dream job
  • Employers that use multi-measure testing see the best results
  • Employers are happier with their hires when they use skills-based assessments before resume screening

We’ve taken care of the words so that you can take action ??

Stay tuned for the 4th of June for countless other insights into skills-based hiring.
