Coming Soon: The Situation Room – Season 2
Daily headlines – and visible evidence – confirm that we're navigating a new era of cascading risks. Geopolitical shifts and economic turbulence are shredding conventional narratives, while intensifying extreme weather events are further aggravating the complex intersection of health, safety, environmental and chemical management, crisis preparations and sustainability. In this volatile environment, resilience is no longer a desirable luxury but a fundamental necessity. Every organisation must be working to plot the course from compliance to visibility and onwards to predictability.
Make no mistake, the stakes are high …
The Situation Room: Season 2 kicks off in March, confronting these escalating risks head-on with provocative perspectives that will fuel critical discussions.
Season 1: Extreme weather and vital debates
The Situation Room's first season peeled back the layers of the environmental risks, business continuity and safety implications of extreme weather events. In a year that saw 27 separate billion-dollar disasters—the second-highest number in U.S. history—our topics clearly grabbed attention, building a community of more than 3,300 subscribers and generating 30,000 engagements. The 10-article Season 1 inspired lively conversations about protecting people and the planet. Here in 2025, our collective situation has grown yet more complicated and nuanced, making it even more vital to share bold perspectives and provoke honest debates.
Season 2: Pulling no punches – navigating towards predictability
The Situation Room’s second season will dive headfirst into the maelstrom of overlapping risks in areas like resilience, safety cultures, ‘greenlashing’ and risk mapping, whilst also building on last year’s analysis of extreme weather impacts. We’ll tackle the topic of ‘muscular capitalism’ —?a new paradigm gathering strength and influence that is waging war on the progressive environmental, social and governance measures of the last few decades.
Through expert interviews, incisive positioning articles, thought-provoking live debates and forum discussion, we’ll build unique and occasionally contrarian perspectives to draw out fresh insights. A new "watchlist" feature will scan global horizons to track emerging risks, helping to navigate this turbulent landscape.
Critical questions — forcing difficult conversations
Forget glossy reports and sales pitches — the Situation Room Season 2 will drill into the real-world events and operational implications that are pitting nations against each other and businesses against the clock. We won’t just observe, we'll challenge. We won’t just report, we'll provoke. The Situation Room will deliver stimulating content on vital issues, such as AI-powered safety systems, chemical and biological safety regulations, competitiveness and the battle for the soul of ESG.
We want your voice
The Situation Room is a community — we’ll provide roadmaps, but YOU will be in the driver's seat. Tell us what you want to explore, what challenges you face, what you’d like to engage with and understand. Our journey will unfold with every comment, opinion and viewpoint you share.
The first dispatch arrives in early March, tackling the complex and often divisive world of AI and its impact on safety and sustainability. This isn't a season you want to miss.
