Coming back from the edge …
We all have speed bumps in our lives.
As you age, they seem to come more frequently or, more likely, you just pay closer attention to them because, well, you’re older and, hopefully, wiser.
The past couple of weeks for me have had more than a few obstacles, but since I’m writing this I’ve obviously made it through the bad stuff. I’ll get back to you on that.
I let y’all know beforehand that I’d probably be off the radar a short while. Little did I know at the time that it would be one of those “one thing after another” spurts.
It started with what turned out to be an abscess under a tooth that ultimately evolved into the need for my first-ever root canal.
While that experience couldn’t be classified as ‘fun’, it turned out not to be so bad (though I’m not done yet; turns out it’s a two-visit process) thanks, largely, to the expertise of the folks at Queen City Endodontics.
Had that been the only thing I would deal with these past couple of weeks would have been okay.
But oh, no.
On the day of the first root canal procedure, my left leg sort of went out on me. The complication there was I’d been doing physical therapy for occasional sciatica on my right leg and was just coming out of the woods on that.
So in an instant, I was back to limping and having to use a cane.
At the same time, I was in the early stages of updating my computer and learned shortly that it wasn’t actually updatable.

So there I was limping like Chester in Gunsmoke and suddenly had the central nervous system of my existence go dark.
Then, thanks to the skills of computer wizard John Clare (who I will forever highly recommend) within a week or so I essentially had a brand-new computer he built for me pretty much from the ground up.
That’s what I’m writing on now and while I still have a few ‘update quirks’ to get used to, I have to say it’s an excellent piece of machinery.
But because of the various sequences of events in the past few weeks I’m in that mindset of ‘What’s next?’ so please forgive me if I launch each day with no small degree of trepidation.
I’m currently following my most recent physician’s directions to overcome this leg thing that I won’t elaborate on because I don’t want to jinx any progress (I’m a little superstitious that way).
But each new day is a challenge for most of us so it’s not really that far from the ordinary.
The thing is, I wanted to get back to you guys as soon as I could and that’s why you’re reading what I’m writing this morning.
But my leg’s starting to throb a bit, so I’ll wrap things up for now.
Thanks for your patience, thanks for your understanding and, if you’ve a mind, whisper a little prayer for me that I will be closer to normal in the near future.
Y’all have a good day, you hear?

1 年I called it the Golden age, in my early years. Cost more money for medical reasons. Now I have added something else. You can't be a whoosie with the aches & pains you wake up with or get during the day. Hope your feeling better each day, HB. By the way, welcome into old age.
