Comfort Home Care, The Caregiving Solution You Need!
As we age we all become care receivers and caregivers. Being on both sides of this care spectrum are challenging as both require some relinquishment of control. When I was ill with breast cancer, now 11 years ago, I was blessed to have been surrounded by amazing caregivers and they continue to be my circle of family and friends that I treasure everyday. I am now in the position to manage the daily care for my mom (90 in April) and blended dad (92 in May). It's a blessing as so many of my friends no longer have their parents. We started this caregiving adventure a few years before covid after my mom falling and my blended dad's natural aging required them to downsize and move to a dwelling with no stairs. We tried an assistant living facility but covid quickly made that a place we deemed to be unsafe. Our next solution was an apartment where we would engage a caregiver to work for them 7 days a week, provide their meals, drive them to accommodate their very busy social life and manage their medication and health needs. We needed a super star and we needed someone who could not only do the job but also handle the emotional demands of two independent-minded, young-spirited elderly people who were not taking to well to the idea of giving up control over their activities and lifestyle. It was tough on all of us.
A rockstar, superwoman and good friend who is in the business of caregiving bought us our angel in disguise and I feel secure as the caregiving manager that my parents are in great hands.
This superwoman and caregiving expert is my dear friend, Gerri Flowers, the CEO of Comfort Home Care (choosecomforthome.com). Gerri has over 30 years of clinical and nursing experience.
