Comfort & Change don't exactly go together like peanut butter and jelly, but they can peaceably co-exist.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about change. On its face, it seems inevitable. Every single day, we change. Our cells change, and the face staring at us from the mirror looks just a bit different than it did a year ago. Our kids grow up, our pets age, our jobs change. We divorce, get married, enter and exit relationships.
Change.
Even if we stay in the same place, our environment changes. Stores crop up. The landscape evolves. Don’t get me started on the changes in the country and the world.
Change.
It’s impossible not to change.
Then, why do we tend to resist it? And, why when we are evolving does it sometimes leave us breathless – or at the very least perplexed?
I’m trying to pay attention to the changes in my own life. And, my recent podcast guests have inspired me by the way they faced the changes in their own life.
Whether you initiate change yourself or it’s foisted upon you by circumstances, change when approached with curiosity and optimism, even when it’s hard, can be a doorway into transformation. And, while that’s not necessarily comfortable, it may be necessary.
“What if we stopped using an inordinate amount of energy to hold ‘it’ together; make ‘it’ work and assure ‘it’ didn’t fall apart? What might be possible if we rode the current of change? What if we embraced the breaking and falling apart as a catalyst for transformation? -Christy Holland
Allowing Love & Loss to Shape Us
My lifelong friend, Linda has handled the challenges and losses she has experienced throughout her life with grace love, and growth. She leans into the lessons offered by the people who impacted her so profoundly before they left the earth. And she continues living her life as a tribute to them.

Reimagining Tequila
Mara Smith took on a challenge and embraced a career change, developing and founding a company called Inspiro Tequila. Mara’s career has spanned law, corporate strategy, and, perhaps the most challenging arena - parenthood.
Mara went on a quest to find a clean, sophisticated, and delicious tequila, eventually “finding” what she wanted by producing it herself! Today, she owns and operates Inspiro Tequila. Mara’s journey is unique, interesting, and, in keeping with the name of her Inspiro Tequila, inspiring!

The Shaman’s Wife
Podcast guest, Alicia Rodriguez, has navigated significant changes, shifts, loves, and losses. She shares her story of transformation in her dramatic new book, The Shaman’s Wife.
In the book’s introduction, Alicia says, “The illusion that we know where our lives are going is a belief we carry unconsciously.”
And there it is. We plan, strategize, and expect. And, then we live, and life happens. How we approach and understand changes, the ones we decide upon, and the ones decided upon for us, is our own story.
Alicia Rodriguez joined me from Portugal where she walks upon beautiful cliffs with her dog, every morning. It’s one of her daily rituals that feeds her creativity.

offers the following thoughts on change:
“If you’re having a bad day - don’t worry - it will change.
If ?you’re having a good day - don’t worry - it will change.”
“Nothing is absolute.
Everything changes,
everything moves,
everything revolves,
everything flies
and goes away.”

“Real wisdom is recognizing and accepting that every experience is impermanent. With this insight, you will not be overwhelmed by ups and downs. And when you are able to maintain an inner balance, you can choose to act in ways that will create happiness for you and for others. Living each moment happily with an equanimous mind, you will surely progress toward the ultimate goal of liberation from all suffering.” S.N. Goenka
