AN ONLINE MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM PRAISED BY PROFESSOR GORDON PARKER AND PERFECT FOR OUR TIMES
Club20 is a simple online mental health program that speaks directly to those experiencing mental health issues.
When Professor Gordon Parker, founder of the Black Dog Institute, first read it he had this to say,
“I have published eight books for consumers with mood disorders to inform them about their conditions and the best management strategies.” David Westgate has “covered many of the domains that I attempted to address with greater creativity and considerable originality”.
He “covers the key principles people need to accrue in their mental health kit bags” and addresses “…complex issues in a simple way with considerable humour, while his self-deprecating tone links him with the reader.”
When Lifeline Direct recently read it, they immediately set about assessing it for their own use. So too has a number of large corporations and associations.
Club20 can be implemented within days without the need for face-to-face meetings. Better still, when ‘normal service resumes’ Club20 will complement, not compete with existing mental health programs you may already be using.
Club20 is not some mental health novelty. It is strategically insightful at the best of times and, to my mind, even stronger at times such as these.
One final point: Isolation may a smart way to limit COVID-19, but it is a fertile breeding ground for poor mental health.
