There Comes a Time ... (Please share)

I try to keep this post focused on issues of family law and conflict resolution (as well as some personal reflection), but today I’m going a little bit off-script. Project 2025, that 900-page document published by the Heritage Foundation, lays out the blueprint for the Trump agenda, and threatens all of us – but particularly many of the families that my practice serves – women, queer folks, independent thinkers, folks who stand up for what they believe in. It threatens abortion, IVF, Headstart, Medicare, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press… It seems clear to me that a Trump win would be the rise of American fascism and the end of life as we’ve known it. So how can the polls be so close?

I don’t want to wake up on November 6 thinking, ‘If only I’d done a little more.’ Do you feel the same way? We have to win by a landslide. We need to turn out the vote!

So here are a few things we can do:

  • Send postcards – I’m working with Reclaimourvote.org, which sends postcards to black voters in key states. We’ve reached over a million voters so far. It’s colorful, fun, and easy – I have packs of 30 that need to go out in early October – email me if you’d like a pack.
  • Flip the Vote - they make strategic recommendations for donating to grassroots organizations working in key states based on relational organizing. I’m co-hosting a Zoom party on Weds October 16th at 8:30 pm ET and would love to have you join me. You can register by clicking here.
  • Canvass – Rockland County (about an hour north of Manhattan) and northern Westchester make up US House District 17, which is a swing district. Mondaire Jones (D) held that seat for 2 years until NY was redistricted and the new district was won by Trump-supporter, Mike Lawler (R). I went out with some friends last week and it was fun! We need to flip Congress and every vote counts. You can canvass for Mondaire and other local leaders in Rockland or Westchester.
  • Vote – Vote early. Vote absentee. Vote on election day. But make sure you vote! You can register here. Tell your friends! TAKE your friends!

Thanks so much Joy It's Wonderful what you are doing. I would like a pack of postcards to send out. I'll email you my address. I'm not sure if I'll be available for the Zoom meeting but I registered just in case.
