THE COMEBACK M.A.N.
"Tiger Woods shoots a 71 in the final round of the Tour Championship to win by two strokes for his first win in five years" ESPN reports.
As many of you know Tiger Woods had been submerged by much scandal, divorce, addiction and health issues, but yesterday he emerged to win the PGA championship, showing that a comeback for anybody is possible. Of course he had some suffering to endure and help to seek for his personal issues, but he remained faithful and resiliency paid off.
Below is an excerpt from my book The Ten Step M.A.N. on Resiliency. www.edwardmulraine.com
RESILIENCY
Character building and hope are what marks a comeback. Many men have suffered scandals, convictions, and prison sentences. If you read the paper, follow the Internet, or look at the evening news, you can find men who have been involved in misconduct that has resulted in humiliation and disgrace. This includes those who are in public and not so public life. I’m sure some men who are reading this book have been involved in some type of humiliation, either in the church, community, job or school. Resiliency is about making a comeback from shame and scandal.
The shield of faith makes it possible to come back from betrayal, guilt, divorce, prison, and your horrific past. The shield of faith is so connected to resiliency because faith in Christ is built upon the resurrection. The resurrection is about coming back from death and disgrace to live a better and more productive life. “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full.” Those men who have failed and fallen to temptation and found themselves in disgraceful positions are prime candidates for the shield of faith and its resilient effect.
People may hate a liar, thief, cheat, or killer, but those who press forward with a convicted soul and a transformed character can go from humiliation to celebration. Even former critics will begin to applaud a man who has made an unusual comeback. I’ve seen men— from presidents and pastors to athletes, entertainers, and business executives—come back strong from their indignities and be welcomed back into their community, family, and/or job. So you no longer have to be burdened by your past if you are willing to hold up the shield of faith and trust God.
