Why do we sometimes express our innermost fears/angers by being a bully publicly and/ or be depressed privately ?
Why do we sometimes tend to attract power & express influence publicly and/ or feel powerless privately ?
Why do we sometimes step on gas & go full steam for achieving something in public and/ or feel you should have given responsibility to others and should have just supported them ?
Taking a leaf from my previous article (link here), what we feed our subconscious is what that returns back multifold. But, is it not a process, extending over lifetime, since we were children ? So, where does the information about all the happiness, sadness, frustration etc. that we have fed the subconscious go ? Let's try to figure some of this aspects in this article.
Who am I ?
Every individual is a summation of all the experiences that he/she has collected over time. There is a socially agreeable behavior with which an incentive is tied up & as a curious child in us, we want to explore, but, we end up suppressing the thoughts of all misbehavior (so called) under the carpet (subconscious mind). We tune our system to reflect only the best behaviors at any point in time, so that we can look up to the future with happiness around us.
What happens to the suppressed, under the carpet, curious child ?
I believe it follows the fundamental laws of physics - buoyancy - The more the suppression under the carpet, the next time you try to do the same, it shows upthrust. This is the reason why, when pushed to a corner, people break down and open up their innermost fears / show anger / and sometimes act weird.
So, how do we come in terms with the Shadow in us?
So, here comes the trick - We always have multiple forces acting on us
- Directing force, that tries to cut the clutter & provides the right direction & vision
- Guiding force, that tries to move towards the direction given, and finds least path of resistance to do so
- Acting force, that acts on the guidance provided while being cognizant of the moves & aftermaths
These forces come with their alter-ego - Shadow forces - that we have intentionally pushed under the carpet
- Directing force - if we don’t know where we are headed, we tend to over power and try taking many things in control till we find a vision / we try to follow the mainstream and lead the life without purpose - hoping purpose will come to us - Sometimes it ends up with tyranny, sometimes ends up disowning and depend on others for life's purpose & direction
- Guiding force - if we are unable to figure out pros and cons of the means to achieve ends, we tend to take a ruthless path that may hurt others, a detached state to achieve the end or end up taking no decision at all & feel lifeless to take any responsibility
- Acting force - if we don’t get the right results, turns into depression / self - harm - The common burst of anger, fear & weakness - sometimes it invokes the bully in us (feel happy with other's inability - finding common ground)
Why do we think the way we think ?
Effectively, our forces and shadow forces comes with a spectral continuum & at any point it is an intersection of multiple forces at varied spectral levels that makes us think and act the way we do. The first step is to understand what are these forces, what did we feed these forces and the boundary conditions wherein the shadow forces can come into reality. We need to find harmony, sometimes do a dry run of the scenarios & make peace with our subconscious mind so that we don’t end up in a fighting buoyancy and making ourselves undesirable.

4 年Rakesh Kumar Murugan Awesome! Essence of a powerful discourse is given as a capsule. Thanks and it is a thought provoking one. Want to extend the discussion a bit. Self esteem, pride and identity crisis. Is this trio not driving a person to say " Who am I ?" How can one portray him/her in a society without this trio? Thoughts??

4 年In a simple sense it matters whether you are "reacting" Or "responding". Most of the time when people " React" Inner emotions/ego come in place. When "responds" It is always respecting others view and your view. There are three kinds of people in the world with the following characteristics a. I am correct, you are wrong b. I am wrong, you are correct c. I am correct, you are also correct If a person wants to win over others, category C. If Egoist, category a. Category b always ignorant.
