Come and butt heads with our MD - RJC Newsletter, January 2023
Rise and shine, time to pick a side ????
We started 2023 much as we ended 2022 - enormously busy. In amongst all of the preparation for the year ahead, there's obviously no priority quite like penning a newsletter, so, that's what we've started here today. Bear in mind that we're used to taking on new projects all the time (they often have names and e-mail addresses).
For this January edition of the Newsletter, which has a distinctly February flavour, it's all about being confrontational. The theme? Tech tests (and why they're not all they're cracked up to be). Read item #2 and direct your pitchforks to Edward Campbell, our Director. If you agree with him, you can use them to scratch his back.
1. #dotnet is so hot right now.
Did you know? Each of our consultants is aligned with a specialist field. Be that , , and . They're all so hot right now, but if you want to see the hottest of the hot skills that our clients are crying out for, you'll want to read our blog "This is the most in-demand tech talent right now — and you’ll need it to build a winning team.". It's where all the cool kids (and the rest of our blogs) are: only on Medium.
Is your job title there? Are we missing a trick? If so, let us know below.
2. Let's face it: tech tests are... meh. Come and shout at our director about it!
Everything RJC does is people-focused (how original, from a recruiter no less!) but that extends to our reservations around tech tests for candidates. See below:
The thing is, candidates know it too. We can't tell you the amount of times that many of our top candidates have simply passed over roles if they have tech tests as part of the interview process. They're time-consuming, they're unpaid, and they're far better done face-to-face or over a call.
Now, we know many of you love tech tests, so whether you're in a mind to agree or disagree, get yourself to this post and join the debate.
3. Leave it out, Sky Sports, the real transfer gossip is at RJC.
Well, we're telling a slight porky, but we just wanted to get your attention to congratulate two of our consultants on their anniversaries (work-related).
So, please direct any embarrassing messages of support and congratulations to Rabia , who has been one of our heroes for a year (with an exciting move on the way), and Harry Purnell on two years of telling clients that isn't the same as .
(P.S. Harry's inbox is open if you're interested in work, or finding talent).
That's all from us this month. Keep an eye on our socials for some more exciting content (particularly if you're a nerd). As always, if you're looking for the best UK-based talent - or the best - just get in touch with Ed Campbell , any of our consultants here on LinkedIn, or send us a message at [email protected]
We'll be back for February's newsletter at the tail-end of the month, so we look forward to seeing you then.
