Today at 4:40pm on JOY 94.9 Drive radio, Nicholes Family Lawyers Managing Partner Sally Nicholes will be discussing Victorian Law Week, which runs from 16 – 22 May.
Victorian Law Week is a program of free community events and activities that makes learning about the law easy. It is designed to help?Victorians understand their rights, find answers to their questions, know what help is available and how our legal system works.
Nicholes Family Lawyers is proud to again be participating in Victorian Law Week and this year we are contributing three free online events.
NAVIGATING SURROGACY IN VICTORIA – AN INTRODUCTORY GUIDE TO THE LEGAL ISSUES
Parenting can be challenging enough as it is, but when you add in the additional challenges presented by surrogacy, things can become even harder.
For this reason, we are putting on a free Law Week event on how to navigate surrogacy in Victoria – something Nicholes Family Lawyers has been helping families with for many years.
This free live webinar event is on Wednesday 18 May from 5 – 6pm and you can book on the Law Week website – just google “Law Week Victoria” to find the website, and type “Nicholes” in the search box. For more information on this free event, and to book, go to https://lawweek.net.au/event/navigating-surrogacy-in-victoria-an-introductory-guide-to-the-legal-issues/
IS A ‘FRIENDLY’ DIVORCE OR SEPARATION POSSIBLE?
For our second event, the focus is on separation and divorce.
Separating and divorce can be really hard, especially when you are in the thick of it.
But, you can actually come out of it more empowered, more engaged and more enthusiastic about life.
In this Law Week webinar, we are presenting, along with “Resolve Conflict Family Law and Mediation” on ways to separate and divorce in as collaborative way with your ex.

Now, this can’t always be the case, but when a separated couple is able to work collaboratively, it can be possible to reduce the amount of pain and angst association with divorce – and to do so without in any way compromising on what is right and fair for you.
This free webinar event is on Thursday 19 May from 1-2pm and you can book your place now on the Law Week website at https://lawweek.net.au/event/is-a-friendly-divorce-or-separation-possible/.
FAMILY VIOLENCE – WHY PSYCHOLOGICAL AND LEGAL SERVICE PROVIDERS NEED TO WORK TOGETHER
Our third Law Week event is on the issue of family violence and the need for everyone involved in providing support to people experiencing family violence to work in a more collaborative way.
When people who have experienced family violence engage with the legal system, it can often trigger strong retraumatising emotional reactions and memories.
And this often leads to the need for other forms of support such as psychological, community and sociological support.
If we can find ways for everyone who works in family violence support to work in a more holistic and interconnected way, then we can do so much more to help people who are experiencing or who have experienced family violence.
In our Law Week webinar on family violence, we, along with our experts in the family violence support space, are going to discuss how we can all work better together so that people who have experienced family violence get the support they need and deserve – because there is never an excuse for family violence.
This free Law Week webinar event is on Tuesday 17 May from midday – 1pm and you can book via the Law Week website at https://lawweek.net.au/event/family-violence-why-psychological-and-legal-service-providers-need-to-work-together/
Nicholes Family Lawyers congratulates the Victoria Law Foundation for co-ordinating Victorian Law Week and for all the organisations who are participating this year.
