Combining Wi-Fi & mobile: Meet Speedify
I admit I'm still trying to get my head around the perspectives on this little app - but here it goes: Speedify is a VPN-type app that will allow you to combine the data streams of Wi-Fi and mobile to 'get faster Internet', the company says.
I've been trying out the app at home for a couple of days (on iOS), and it seems quite slick. It will connect you to closest VPN server (you get to choose). For me that's in Amsterdam, but I imagine in the US there are many more options. It will allow you to set up policies and your data limit for your mobile connection, too. It's simple to use and the UI is well designed overall.
The company (in this quite funny Life Hack video) markets it for in-home use - but just imagine what something like this could do for public Wi-Fi on the go. I'm hoping that perhaps one of my US friends with (for example) an Xfinity Wi-Fi plan would like to try it out and let us know!
For all of this and more don't miss Wi-Fi NOW USA the conference in Washington DC this April 19-21. We will be covering in-home, security, enterprise, leadership & innovation, and carrier Wi-Fi a the industry's most comprehensive 3-day program. Check it out and register here!

9 年These type of apps are of value if they have intelligence -when to select mobile data over wifi based on real time and historic performance, and they do not jeopardize critical app perfomance such as wifi calling/vowifi. Customers will stop using wifi calling if they are constantly forced to use poor wifi locations.
Sounds cool. What happens to your Netflix subscription when you use it? Do you get content from the Netherlands or can you choose country? If you can select VPN server in any country of choice and get the content there I'll sign up today. ;)
