COMBATING EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE
The KNOSK N100-a-day Secondary School, Kuje
Nigeria's pay-as-you-can, pay-as-you-go, crowd-funded, private school for children from low income families @ N100/day
Examination malpractice is a significant issue that undermines the credibility of our education system in Nigeria. To ensure a fair and just learning environment, we need innovative, straightforward and simple?solutions. Today, some students rely on what is popularly known as? "miracle centers" to enroll for external examinations where they receive improper assistance during exams instead of studying diligently.
At KNOSK-N100-A-Day Charity School, we are dedicated to upholding exam integrity. We can proudly state that none of our students engage in any form of malpractice during both internal and external examinations. Here’s how we instill this confidence in our students:
Our third-term examinations started on July 8th, 2024, and our approach to maintaining integrity during exams is both unique and effective.
Imagine our examination halls: each student is focused and prepared to tackle their papers. To ensure fairness, we use a paper type exam, providing each student with a different set of questions, even within the same class. This approach keeps exams fair.
We also implement a distinctive seating arrangement. Students from the same class do not sit together. Instead, junior students are paired with seniors. This simple yet effective strategy not only prevents cheating but also fosters an environment where every student is encouraged to work independently and excel?

Our goal is to prepare students for future external exams by teaching them the importance of independent study from a young age. This approach builds confidence and allows each student to showcase their true abilities. By working independently, students learn to trust their knowledge and skills, demonstrating their capabilities to themselves and others.
However, the responsibility doesn’t solely rest with the school. Parents also play a crucial role in encouraging their children to develop independent study skills. Teaching effective time management and thorough exam preparation without taking shortcuts is essential.
By implementing these proven strategies, we can cultivate a culture of integrity that extends beyond the classroom. We believe schools across Nigeria can adopt this approach to effectively combat exam malpractice. Let's collaborate to ensure that every student's achievements reflect their hard work and dedication.
