Combat Being Stagnant. Embrace a Growth Mindset!

In recent years, the concept of growth mindset changed how individuals face challenges.? ??Growth mindset is the belief that a person's talents can be developed over time through hard work, good strategies, and input from others.? A person with a growth mindset acknowledges that there are things he or she does not know. According to a Harvard Business Review article, people who embrace growth mindset “worry less about looking smart and put more energy into learning.”???

Another article writes, “having a growth mindset constantly reminds you that there’s always more to learn”.? We’re thrilled to have seen this with our colleagues who have completed our e-learning courses, like Issa of JG Summit Olefins Corporation :

On the other hand, the opposite of the growth mindset is a fixed mindset, which makes individuals think they have no chance of improvement.? A fixed mindset limits opportunities, since someone with a fixed mindset may perceive negative feedback as a sign of rejection and avoid feedback altogether.?

Th growth mindset suits digital environments where experimentation, learning from failures, and iterating are the norm.
Which mindset do you possess? Image from Innov8.

We Can’t Be Stagnant in Digital.?

In digital where new technologies are always emerging and where new skills are always in demand, a growth mindset allows an individual to keep pace:

  • This mindset suits digital environments where experimentation, learning from failures, and iterating are the norm.??
  • A person with a growth mindset is also aware that he or she can reach out for guidance, ask for feedback, and learn from others, because digital transformation requires collaboration and knowledge sharing.?

Beyond digital, having a growth mindset expands a person’s interest.? This does not promise though that good things will just happen, because persistence and resilience may be required while pursuing that new interest.? However, innovations may spark from this experience. ?A study showed that people with diverse interests can create connections across different fields, which can be a source of innovative ideas.??

Check out this short video from Ian of Robinsons Land Corporation , who completed e-learning courses about 4 different disciplines!?

Part of having a growth mindset is continuous learning!??JG Summit DTO’s e-learning courses allow our colleagues to learn something new anytime, anywhere. ?Issa and Ian share their experience:
