Columbus Named Best City to Live in the US
US News & World Report released a list of the best places to live in America as they do every year and this year, the study looked at five metrics: job market, value, quality of life, desirability, and net migration. Our own little Columbus was #16 is one of the best places to live in the country.
We have an average salary of about $49,000 with a population just under 2 million. Out of 10, our quality of life came in at 6.5 with a value index of 7.4. These five metrics were used to score a value including a blend of annual income household and cost of living as well as quality of life, which accounts for crime, college preparedness, commute, and several other factors.
Our state's capital is a great city with youthful flavor and a passion for sports, entertainment, and music.Much of our life revolves around our Ohio State University football team, the Buckeyes, myself included. I am a huge Buckeyes fan. As the article stated, we literally live and breathe football but, it's not our only source of entertainment. We are a very business-friendly city with affordability and a healthy economy. Between our home prices, rent, and our overall cost of living, Columbus comes in less expensive than most major cities of its size.
Columbus has a wide variety of individual neighborhoods, subdivisions, and communities as well as outlying cities that are very popular Including Lewis Center, Gahanna, Marysville, and Worthington. Many of these places are some of the fastest growing communities in the county and offer a rich history and a wide range of home styles and prices.
The median home price is about $171,000 with the median monthly rent of about $855. Columbus offers a better value than similarly sized metro areas when you compare housing costs to median household income. Columbus attracts a younger demographic and has numerous family-friendly suburbs.
