Over the last three years, Columbia Gear has made dramatic improvements in cycle time and tool life. These improvements are the result of technological advances in grinding wheels, tool alloys and equipment.

As a result of these improvements, our relationship has grown with Liebherr and 3M. Therefore, we have been asked to participate in the upcoming Expo “Grinding Days”. The event will be held at the 3M global headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. The focus of the Expo will be to discuss and demonstrate gear grinding innovations, methods for e-drive and robotics, inspections, and finishing techniques.

This is a great opportunity to market Columbia Gear’s gear grinding capabilities to both current and future customers. There will be six companies or organizations presenting and demonstrating grinding/related technologies. They are John Deere Waterloo Works, American Stress Technologies Inc., Columbia Gear Corporation, Penn State University, Liebherr, and 3M.?

As you may have noticed, on April 12th, 3M had a film crew in our plant taking pictures of the Liebherr gear grinder as part of a demonstration of the gear grinder’s capabilities to grind and polish. They also interviewed Chad Grewe regarding Columbia Gear’s use of 3M grinding wheels and our LGG 500 gear grinder, with a focus on how their use in our processes have improved productivity and quality. Chad Grewe and Rob Daerda will be participating in the Expo to network with other process experts and answer any questions from participants directly.

This exposure will be good for our business future. We are excited to be recognized within our industry for utilizing some of the latest technology currently available, as well as being able to demonstrate these capabilities.?

This is just the beginning of our journey to modernizing our manufacturing landscape. We will see many new and exciting changes and improvements over the next few years.
