What is your name and in which area do you work at idealo??

I’m Dinah and I work at idealo International as an Agile Coach. At idealo International, we offer the service of idealo as a price comparison platform for five European countries outside Germany: Austria, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK.?

How would you explain your job to your parents or friends???

When people don't know the term agile, I often describe my job as a Team Coach or as a permanent consultant in organizational development. As an Agile Coach, you can take on many different tasks, the crucial factor here is what the organization needs. We look for and discover pain points, because those are always opportunities for us to improve things. Currently we ask ourselves: How can we adapt our team structures cross-functionally to unfold our full potential for the market? In doing so, we break out of outdated and long-established structures and think in a new way.

How did you get to idealo??

I saw the job advertisement and what made me apply was idealo's culture, which I had read a lot about online. And I found exactly what I was reading about when I joined idealo 1.5 years ago.?

How did you become an Agile Coach and how did you gain experience in your field??

I worked in an agile startup and that's how I got into agile working. I have no formal training as an agile coach, but I am currently taking facilitator training focused on large group transformations. I also worked as a manager before I came to idealo and had to downsize my team by 50% in this role. That's how I first came in touch with the idea that you can change and optimize team sizes.?

Who benefits from your work in what form and how does this help us as a company to achieve our goals??

In the International department we have been looking at a new team structure where our operational teams that work directly on the market will benefit from. We have developed a structure that allows them to work more efficiently across functions to create value independently as one team.

What do you think makes your work at idealo so exciting?

At idealo International, we are very agile. With 150 people in International, we have smaller departments, lean coordination processes and are flexible in our decisions. Each cycle we gain new insights and learnings and, as an Agile Coach, I'm right in the middle of it and it's great to keep gaining new experiences. I also like the fact that many different people and cultures meet here and how different the employees are. It is a colorful collaboration, and everyone brings so much energy to embracing change!??

What is challenging about your work??

My job is challenging because my main tasks are to continuously support our organization in improvements that the departments want to implement, as well as to constantly give impulses for potential improvements: And all of this during ongoing processes. This often costs underestimated amounts of resources, and of course we have to be efficient with our resources.

At this time, a large, very general topic is our hybrid way of working. For example, we are still working on adapting our meetings to the hybrid mode instead of simply following the onsite meeting structure of the past one-to-one. Remote work is still an underestimated challenge. That's why I'm looking forward even more to our next International Collaboration Day and to seeing all my colleagues in person again.

Thank you, Dinah!
