Color Change Design of Scalding Free-color blindness friendly

High Risk Groups of Scalds and Burns:

According the report of American Burn Association, we know the following facts:
1.High Risk Groups: infants and children, older adults and people with disabled people.

2.Young Children Nationwide, nearly 240,000 children are treated in hospital emergency departments every year for scald injuries.

3.Young children have thinner skin resulting in deeper burns at lower temperatures than adults. The proportion of a child’s body that is exposed to burning elements is also greater.

Thus, if the high temperature could be identified then we could prevent these injured. So we would like to build a project for scalding free to help more people live a safer life.

Chroma Life Technology Ltd., based in Taiwan, dedicates in solutions for color change applications. We would make color change product more than interesting stuff so we focus on the development of functional color change products for safe and friendly in family environment.

The following is the design of scalding free products:

Focus group: children, older adults, and color blindness friendly design.

Developing Product:
Color change patch, color change stickers, color change labels and color change PVC card for bathroom like bathtub and showerhead. This series of functional color change products could be designed for different temperature alerting and for various circumstances like bathroom, kitchen and tableware. Please refer to our project image for 40℃ and 47℃ label as primary design. 

Description:
We are able to design the color change products to show alerting color or symbol at specified temperature. As the alerting color and symbol show up, it is indicating the temperature is too high and should be avoided. In this project, we would like to design these functional warning products to be applied in bathroom for warning of hot water. As parents want to bathe baby, parents will be able to check the temperature by “seeing” the color change instead of “touching testing”. And this innovative color change product could definitely minimize the risk of scalding. Moreover, this design is color blindness friendly. It is not only color changing but also symbol changing. Thus, those who are color blindness can tell the difference from symbols.
