Colliding with the unexpected

In this episode, I am joined by author, journalist and fellow anthropologist Gillian Tett, to discuss the role anthropology plays in today’s business world. Gillian is the author of the award-winning book, Fool’s Gold, which analyses the origin of the 2008 financial crisis, and most recently, The Silo Effect, and is currently a columnist and US Managing Editor of The Financial Times.

As an anthropologist turned journalist, Gillian brings a unique cultural perspective into observing how finance and money really work. As she says, an anthropologist is always doomed to be an outsider by virtue of our training, that enables us to telescope in and out of cultural contexts. In this interview we talk about why anthropologists are in such high demand in companies like #Amazon, #Nike or #Intel. We also discuss the role of technology in fragmenting our society and making us more prone to silos than ever before, as well as what are the taboo topics in the world of finance today.

Tune in HERE and enjoy the conversation!
