College Student - Crosstown Leader
Working a full-time job while also being a full-time college student is not the easiest thing in the world. However one of our top Account Managers, Josh Batista, gives his insight into how he not only managed to balance both schedules but also succeed and reach a position of leadership.?
Before joining the Crosstown team Josh was working as a stock associate for a shoe company.? Eventually, he realized that this position was not allowing him to grow or reach his full potential so decided to take a break from the working world and focus on school.? After a year had passed Josh wanted to pick up work again but this time setting his sights on a career path that was aligned with his studies.? He came across a sports marketing position with Crosstown Solutions and shortly after applying received a call from the Recruitment HR team.?
The interview process with the team allowed Josh to meet the majority of the Crosstown team as well as the Starwood innovations team (our Nashville expansion mentioned in the previous article). After visiting the office space, embracing the culture, and networking with current managers in the company Josh felt that this was a great place to make his mark and start his journey toward Management within the company.?

Still being a college student, Josh was able to manage his busy work schedule alongside his class schedule by being disciplined and proactive - especially when it came to time management and planning out his days. He networked with colleagues in similar positions which gave him the tools to succeed and he even had one of his team members help to hold him accountable by sharing his school schedule and making sure that assignments were being completed on time. Crosstown promotes a strong teamwork culture to the point where everyone is working together to reach both personal goals and an overall common goal. Josh says that “the biggest tip I can give to other college students who want to work full time is making sure you have a plan and devote certain days to school only. Separate the two with a written schedule and stick to the plan.”?
With only seven credits left to complete before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Josh is pushing to finish strong and strive toward his goals of management. One day he hopes to run his own sports marketing company and branch out to the San Francisco market. Working and studying at the same time is such an accomplishment and when you begin to feel overwhelmed or stressed out, take a step back to reflect on how much you have done and what you have accomplished.? The whole team here at Crosstown is proud of Josh and can’t wait to welcome more students into the company.?
