College Sales Competitions
This semester, I began my sales career. I am currently finishing up my first, but certainly not my last, sales class at Bryant University. As a requirement for the class, I took part in four sales competitions throughout the semester. On the first day of class I downloaded the RNMKRS and Speed Sell apps. Professor Boyer told us that these apps would help us learn the sales process like the back of our hands. I vividly remember going back to my dorm to practice. I was thrown into speaking to a robot, selling a Dell laptop to one and selling myself to the other. Upon completion of my first practice round, I was highly disappointed. As a rookie, I expected to knock it out of the park. If there is anything that I have learned from this class though, it is that sales takes a lot of work to become successful.
Realizing this, I dedicated my time to practicing on these apps. I talked to those robots at any free opportunity I had. As of last week, I had done 151 practice role plays selling a Dell laptop to the bot, going through each step of the sales process. I now am extremely confident in my ability to engage in the sales process and use it in my everyday life. On top of this, I came in the top 5%, out of about 3,000 students, selling myself to the robot in the Speed Sell app.
In addition to these apps, I competed in the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition. In this competition, I was stacked up against almost 200 other talented sales students from across the nation. I made it through four rounds of the competition, and was so honored to be named NISC 2021 Champion. Every round of the competition, I was shocked to see my name on the list of participants moving on. Despite my hours and hours of preparation, I was shocked at my capability to win an entire competition when my sales career had just begun.

If I have learned anything from this course and these competitions, is that sales may not be for everyone, but you will one hundred percent see the outcome you desire with persistent work and dedication. I am so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to compete and gain this experience, and I look forward to doing more in the future!

3 年Congratulations and great article. Sales is a lifelong journey and can be a very fulfilling career if you believe in the product or service you are selling and more importantly the value it has to the customer.
